Gonna be a long, long off-season for the Dodgers.

Dodgers are certainly capable of emerging and the Padres are certainly capable of choking it away but holy hell what a monkey on that team's back right now. I can't see how there aren't major changes made if they lose to a team they beat by 3 touchdowns in the regular season.

As a non-baseball fan with absolutely no dog in the fight to get emotional about things -- i'll believe the Padres beat the LAD in the series when it actually happens. The clinching game is by far the hardest to win in sports. Especially for a team that is clearly less talented and with a history of losing.

Agree with all of this except the “clearly less talented”. Padres have some Ballers up and down their lineup and through the rotation and bullpen. Definitely less sexy in terms of name and reputation but in terms of performance they can play.

But the weight of never having won before is real And it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the Dodgers jump all over them in the early going and put it away early

I haven't been following this series closely, but a lot depends on the pitchers available as the series moves along. Baseball players, especially pitchers, are creatures of habit. Starters are used to pitching every 5 days and are not accustomed to warming up and then pitching in the middle of a game.

It's also a game that is 90% half mental. When you are hitting way under the Mendoza line with runners in scoring position, it becomes an infection that spreads throughout the entire lineup and the ball looks like a little white pea to batters.

A 5-game series is not the best time for bats to go cold for even two games in a row, and that happens all the time during a regular season.

Yeah if anything the Padres underperformed after the Soto trade, and now a lot of guys, especially pitching, are coming to life.

The best of 5 series works against the Dodgers all the time, and in this case, it might not be enough for the sleepy bats to wake up. If SD doesn't bury them tonight, it's over.

Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a sports fan.

This series is nothing new for the Dodgers under Dave Roberts/Friedman. They do GREAT during the regular season and flop in the playoffs. You just get the feeling they just don’t have the IT factor. Analytics can only get you so far.

I’m not even angry, this is just routine Dodger baseball.

Kyle Whittingham is the best coach in the Pac-Whatever. His players knew as soon as they scored that they were going for two, and it is obvious they had already discussed the RPO play they were going to run. Utah lined up, executed it, and won the game over Riley.

Now Utah becomes USC fans as they must run the table, and hope USC beats UCLA for there to be a three-way tie in the Southern Division.

I have no idea how the tiebreakers would work and which team(s) it would favor.

That's a Lincoln Riley team right there. Great offense, trash defense.
Oklahoma is still suffering the after effects.
