Will it keep up through October?

The pitching rotation beyond Kershaw and the relievers is another thing that seems to come undone in post season play. It's great to see the season they're having, but man do I feel like they've set the fans up for disappointment before. I guess the fun part is enjoying the ride and seeing where it takes us.

That's my worry, too.

Wood has great, but can he last the entire season and postseason? And beyond Wood is a crap shoot. McCarthy has been on the DL a couple of times and last Sunday his 2016 yips showed up again. Every starter not named Wood or Kershaw puts enormous pressure on the pen, which its share of question marks, too.

Something feels different about this year's Dodger team, though. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but they sure are fun to watch. I also think Hill will be real good for the rest of the season after a rocky first two months.

The difference with the dodgers and previous letdowns is the offense. The power numbers may come down a bit but they are all patient, draw a ton of walks and have a very balanced lineup.

I do agree though, they need 1 more solid right handed starter, I'm good with wood or hill (assuming his new abbreviated windup solves his issues as it appears to have his last two starts). Won't be cheap though cause at least Houston will be looking for the same.

"It's a shock."

When I tuned into the All-Star game, Joe Buck was complaining that it was going too fast [only 2 hours in the 8th inning]. Was he getting paid by the hour? He sounded disappointed it was only 3 hours as the game ended in the 10th.

The entire announcing squad made me puke. They drooled all over judge and the astros and didn't even acknowledge the dodgers as having the best record in baseball, only that they were the nl west leaders.

And WTF john madden, Turner gets in with 20 million plus votes and he plays one inning. Overall what a freaking boring all star game.

Easily more popular than the Clippers and UCLA basketball.

I might give you the Clippers but UCLA basketball has always held more prestige than Kings hockey. Russel Westbrook, Lonzo Ball, Zach Levine, Kevin Love, Jrue Holiday and the way they've been recruiting you'll start seeing many more over the next few years....

Me personally, I rank them

1. Dodgers/Kings/Lakers.... when they overlap i have my TV, iMac and iPad streaming all the 3 lol...

2. UCLA Football

3. Tennessee Titans.... been a fan since the Jerry Glanville days...

UCLA basketball lol.

This isn't the 70s.

they've made more headlines than the KINGS and have more brand recognition which usually equates to being the more recognizable team... TV ratings also back this up so whether its the 70s, 80s, 9os, 00s, and other than the teams 5 year run, UCLA and Lonzo Ball reigned last season...

So that means UCLA basketball is more popular than Kings hockey because of one season of Lonzo v. a season where Kings hockey was boring?

As for brand recognition, I see far more Kings gear and car decals etc. than UCLA basketball.

Regardless, it is going to be all Lakers once again. It has already started.

I'm always surprised at how popular the Dodgers are. Baseball can be so boring. I realize there's great baseball games and there's boring hockey games, but on average hockey is way more entertaining.

I've been to about 10 Dodger games and not a single one was good. On the other hand out of all the Kings games I've attended at Staples only a handful have been bad.

History. Family legacy stuff. SoCal is still a baseball friendly area. I actually have three co-workers that played NCAA ball out of an entire staff of like 25.

Latin culture is a big part of it as well as baseball doesn't seem to be losing young fans there like it is with much of America's youth.

Personally, I played tee-ball and was like, get me out of here. Never played organized baseball again. I think MLB would die if they had to compete with something other than the WNBA.

I dunno. I like the strategy in baseball. It's not the constant action of Hockey, but I don't watch it for constant action.

This. Hockey isn't as easy to get involved with as baseball obviously here in Cali, so a lot of people can relate to just how talented these guys are since most growing up played baseball of some form. They have no idea just how good these hockey players are cause most don't know the rules or never tried to do it themselves.

For me it's fun trying to predict what the next play is. Would you shift? Pitch out? Hit and run?

The real amazing thing about this dodgers record run is they are frigging terrible at manufacturing runs. Runner on 2nd no outs they don't try and go the opposite field to move the runner over. They just mash. 2 outs later the guy is still on 2nd and the next guy goes yard. It's amazing to watch.

If the Dodgers finally win the WS again it'll be both Lakers and Dodgers ..... As for our beloved Kings being more recognizable than UCLA.. I'm sorry but you must be running into the same people because if your not in Hermosa/Manhattan/Redondo/El Segundo, you will definitely see every team outnumbering the Kings

UCLA AND USC alienate each other in LA. The Kings have the city to themselves.

The Lakers jumped slightly back ahead of the Warriors as the most popular NBA team in LA after Lonzo was drafted. I've yet to meet a Laker fan that doesn't have a soft spot for the Dubs...
