I'm actually satisfied to see Jerry West make Jeanie Buss and the Lakers look like a bunch of ****ing idiots. Then again, Magic Johnson did a fantastic job making the organization look like a complete joke, and Jim Buss helped cement that fact as well.
Actually think if Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchack was still in charge they would be doing far better.

Can't wait to listen to the whining and crying from the hosts and callers on ESPN 710 on Monday. ESPN 710 has reached the old Team 1040 levels from the Canucks playoff choke days, although in fairness to the Canucks atleast that venting was done after playoff losses as opposed to free agent whiffs.

We were at the jethro Tull concert in the desert last night and that quake rocked the place for a good while and a few snow flakes left but 99 % just kept rocking , after it was over the dumbass old hippies just laughed and enjoy the show, then the second one hit later and all the grumbling in the restroom and at the bar was about kwahi going to the clippers , ..........seems like the last few years we are living in a sponge bob episode of “ Opposite Day “ people win elections they shouldn’t, they pass laws to let more people out of jail then put in , illegal immigrants get free healthcare while we pay thousands a year for it and the Nets and Clippers are relevant , holy moly

Well, at least the Lakers got Danny Green.

Sucks for the Raps to lose Kawhi but, they got a championship out of it.

Looks like this happened in the wee hours of the morning here so I’m just waking up to it. I’ll have to listen to Toronto sports radio who will be talking about this non stop today. Might be good for some laughs.

I found it funny that people like Jalen Rose came out with their “99% he’s staying on a 2 year deal” statements. Truth is, you knew jack shit.

Kawhi, by all accounts is very reserved. He was the only one throughout the entire process that knew how it was going to end up. Guy is smart and calculated. Best of luck to him and the Clippers.

They have good ownership in Balmer, a pretty solid coach in Rivers and “The Logo” Jerry West. The Lakers are the little step brother now to the Clippers. Who would of ever thought that.

The Laker / Clipper news makes me very doubtful that AEG is going to tolerate a 3-5 year rebuild for the Kings.

Because Staples will be packed for 82 nights plus playoffs so they've got to get the hockey team going?

No, because AEG isn't going to want the Kings to be the ugly stepchild while the Lakers and Clippers generate all the excitement. This is an entertainment business. LA now has dynamic teams in the Dodgers, Clippers, and Lakers. The Kings are an AEG embarassment right now. The die is cast for 19-20 but I expect that after another dreadful year there will be major changes that possibly include Blake being shown the door. An aggressive rebuild like the one the NYR just did is far more suited to the LA market than a Buffalo style rebuild. Just my opinion but if the Clippers can actually act like a team that wants to win then the Kings can't be far behind.

They've got a year headstart on us AND literally hit the lottery f***ing us over in the process. And they never won shit, so they never had the purge of assets we did. Plus they have zero problem getting UFAs who are actively campaigning to be there, unlike us, even in the championship years. Not really an apples-to-apples comparison and it's certainly going to take us more than a year or two to recover fully.

They've had an aggressive offseason but I'll hold off on crowning them until they actually do something. At this point it could just as easily blow up in their faces as be a smashing success.

Just as it could blow up in the faces of the Dodgers, Lakers, and Clippers. But the point is that they are trying. 99% of fans appreciate that far more than anticipating how the lottery balls fall. All these moves are going to sell season seats and generate excitement. The Kings are two time SC winners and you guys act like you are still living in 1985. I would be shocked if the Kings don't make an honest attempt to improve the roster dramatically in the summer of 2020. It's just the nature of pro sports in LA...and it has to be done that way.

I don't disagree with that, but you're ignoring recent history, and the focus is on the Lakers right now, the heat is off the Kings, they have more recent championships and an excuse for current suckage.

Agree that they'll start making a splash again next offseason, and that'll be more in line with what you saw from the Rangers, who attacked from all angles (Trouba, Fox, Kakko, Panarin all very different types of acquisitions).

But hockey has traditionally been the exception in LA, it's not like the other sports where you can go out and get a Beckham or a Lebron and a big name makes you money by default. Hell even baseball has morphed a little bit, I know more people that would have been upset with Bryce Harper (contract, at least) than happy.

This year is still an unloading year for the Kings. The Lakers just went through how many years of top three picks? I think the Kings will start feeling “hopeful” in 2020-2021, and we’ll start really going for it again the year after that.

Not to mention, it’s not even a guarantee that we won’t be a playoff team. Lots of doom and gloom about the veterans, but Kopitar had a career year two seasons ago. Who is to say these guys can’t put it all together again?

Kovalchuk - Kopitar - Brown
Kempe - Carter - Toffoli

That’s still a lot of talent if they can find the motivation and the right system. If some of these guys had career-average years, I bet we would have made the playoffs last year.

I wouldn’t put money on it, but it’s not impossible, either.

The problem is LA and the West Coast in general isn't a big player in the FA market. Also, the Kings don't have the assets to make trades like NYR made for Trouba. You can want them to try what NYR did but it's not possible at this time.

The Lakers and Clippers have zero impact on the Kings except for scheduling.

Blake just hired a coach for five years. He has security.

So we laud the Rangers now? The team that sent a letter to it's fans a season ago telling them they were tanking?

Nobody is saying the Kings are doing a Buffalo rebuild either. It makes sense for them to not play in this year's FA pool. A "wasted" season of 11/8 next season will ultimately lead to stronger seasons in the long run. Make no mistake: this isn't a five year plan; however, the vets need to prove to Blake that the timeline should be shorter.

Absolutely no way the Kings are tanking, not when Doughty has that giant contract and is still in his prime. Otherwise, he would be demanding a trade.

To respond to @SFKingshomer , so what you're saying is. NHL LA is the complete opposite of NBA LA when it comes to free agency? Why is that, though? It's not a black and white thing, is it?

Could be a really great signing...
Rajon Rondo - Quinn Cook
Danny Green - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - Troy Daniels
DeMarcus Cousins - JaVale McGee
LeBron James - Jared Dudley - Talen Horton-Tucker
Anthony Davis - Kyle Kuzma

Thats not a bad lineup/roster...

But seriously, Pelinka has done a pretty good job of filling out the roster since last night. Boogie is a low risk high reward signing. If he can get back to 80% of the player he was with a good off-season, he's a steal.

Next season may be the most exciting and least predictable it has been in years, with so many good teams competing.

easy man

easy

it's much easier to throw money at a team in the NBA than it is in the NHL

an AEG embarassment is some next level rhetoric.. no doubt its not where they want it to be but such is the life of a salary capped league

And the best part is they're all 2 year contracts which could also move really easily should someone become available... You could create a few really good packages with the role players they've signed and say a bounce back season from Boogie..

Is Giannis not a free agent in two years? I’m sure that would be part of the reason for the short term deals.
