Congrats to Frank Thomas and Greg Maddux, two of my favorite players of all time.

I'm annoyed that Glavine got in so easily. Always found him overrated. There are more deserving candidates.

Let's let Rodon actually pitch a game in the major leagues before assuming that premier free agents are going to choose the White Sox just for the opportunity to play with him.

So it's cool for Cubs fans to hype their prospects but Sox fans can't? Ok then...

And who said it for "just" that opportunity. Don't you think it'd be more to pair up with the 2nd best pitcher in the AL?

I would say it's cool for fans of both teams to hype their team's prospects. I think we can both agree that there is a whole lot more to hype when it comes to the Cubs versus the White Sox though.

Hype your prospects all you want. But I don't see anyone calling the Cubs contenders, whereas you stated that Shark could sign with the Sox, as opposed to the Cubs, specifically because the Sox are contenders. Contending for what I don't know (fourth place?) , but the Sox are not a 'win-now' destination for free agents.

Who said anything about "win now" or "are contenders"? :biglaugh:

Please follow along. 2016 is not NOW, is it?

Someone expressed doubt about him signing with the Sox based on his rejection of the Cub offer. To that you responded:

He turned down the Cubs because he wants to contend, it's irrelevant.

The implication of that statement is that the White Sox are or will be contenders. They certainly are not contenders now. But to dismiss the Cubs' future chances while simultaneously stating as a given that the Sox will be contending in 2016 and will therefore be an attractive FA destination is hilarious.

Maybe Shark wins a ring in Oakland and just goes to the highest bidder, best of both worlds.

Guess I just don't see why they couldn't be in 2 years if they added another big time SP.

Ah, 2016.... the best year in Chicago baseball history, with the Cubs and the Sox facing off in the World Series, thereby becoming the worst year in baseball history for the fanbase of the team that loses.

I'm just looking forward to being able to watch games that actually matter in July and August again. That's the limit of my expectations as a Cubs fan.
