You can put Gasol at Center, but he is a meh defender. A small all around upgrade to Boozer. Nothing to get excited about.

Gasol is fine, nothing to get excited about. Now had they got him in 2007 like they could have, that would have been exciting. Bulls are a decent team with little to no shot of winning the title.....same as it's been under the entire failed Paxson regime
More or less. If they win/contend it's because Rose comes back somewhere near pre-injury Rose level. But of course BWC won't pass on the opportunity to make doomsday claims and blow everything out of proportion.

If they were trading him they'd have to trade at least a 1st rounder with him

So terrible adding a PF/C who put up 20/11 per 36 last year
\

its not terrible, but it still doesn't shore up their lack of a good wing player. he's also no spring chicken and has missed like 20+ games the past 3 seasons, but at least he's not the kind of player who relies on athleticism.

That was one of my biggest issues with drafting McDermott. If they got an athletic shot creator, McD would have been fine. They're going to either move the ball a ton (which Gasol would help with, but still likely not enough), which they haven't done under Thibs, or space the floor a ****load and pray Rose can drive the lane at will still.

The one guy I have (misguided) hopes they can get is Pierce. There's some experience with Thibs, a good no-nonsense guy that management would like, and would be a solid solution for a year or two, which is their window before the Cavs run the East.

Pierce can actually play more than 60 games, put up 17 per 36 last year, and can still create his own shot. Could do a lot worse than him on a one year deal.

"Little to no shot of winning the title" is both harsh and untrue. Rose has to be at least 80% of what he is, and if he is......they are a legit title contenders. I am going to wait till training before I consider giving up on the season before it starts.

So because Pau is "regressing" that means he's a bad signing? I'm sure you guys were all pretty pissed when the Hawks signed Brad Richards then.

There's a difference between a team that was 1 goal away from heading back to defend their title and a team that got butt humped in the first round of the playoffs.

Sure, but what would you have preferred? Gasol/Mirotic/McD is a pretty exciting offseason for a team that was a 4 seed and is potentially getting an All NBA PG back too. It's a come-down from the Melo talk but its pretty good and it gives them a great shot in a wide-open East

It's the NBA. 90% of the time there's nothing you can do, you just aren't a title-quality team.

Yup. Do you have one of the 15 best players of all time on your team? If yes, congratulations you can win the title. If no, better luck next year

Still no official contract yet; a one year sign and trade for Boozer+1st to the Lakers make sense for both parties. Bulls would be able to keep him off the Eastern Conference.

The only reason to do that is to avoid paying Boozer's buyout right? Cause they could buy him out and then sign Gasol and Mirotic without throwing away a first. It's not my money though...so I'm not saying they should eat 10 mil or whatever to save a first round pick (though many big market teams would).

That's the primary objective, but somehow there's a way that getting Gasol in a S&T gives us a small bit of extra cap space. Not sure how, but that's what I see when on basketball sites.

True, but just by amnestying Carlos Boozer's contract would only open a can of worms in favor of Miami. :naughty:

Chicago Bulls receive:
Pau + cash for a one-year contract

Los Angeles Lakers receive:
Boozer's expiring contract and a 1st-rounder

I'mma edit this to let y'all know Luol is going to South Beach for 2 years, 20 million.

Do they need that little extra bit of cap space? Is whatever they need it for worth sacrificing their first next year for it?
