Geez. You sound like a D.A.R.E officer.

He actually comes off as surprisingly articulate in his interviews. I'm not going to bash his character because he has an affinity for drugs.

Pretty good summation of my thoughts. He's a nice guy who enjoys sipping codeine. So what? I really wish people would judge on an individual's character and not their habits.

My parents are quick to bash modern artists for talking about drugs which makes me lol.

My mother is a HUGE Rolling Stones fan and doesn't see the hypocrisy in it. Keith Richards has snorted so much coke he can't even speak ****ing English anymore lol.

This right here is why I will stop responding to you. Comparing a gun duel where the other guy cheated, to a punk who voluntarily takes drugs, seeks no help for it, and promotes it to others as a way of getting fame.

Yea, great comparison.

Hamilton accepted because he didn't want to lose out or look bad to his people either... Burr was it(?) Did cheat as well

I love Zeppelin and Floyd. They do drugs, or did, Bonham was an alcoholic and died in a DWI accident. It's bad and to me sad cause I LIKE the band. It's all subjective. Either way they are dumb, pitiful choices.

i honestly don't know his character at all, so i won't pretend i do. but still, he is a role model good or bad.

"He's a nice guy who enjoys sipping codeine. So what?..." this guy...

The debate started from whether or not we feel sympathy for someone who hurts themselves as a result of doing drugs. Not how we judge their character by their habits.

I agree. SO what? He can do whatever he wants. We can agree there. I certainly don't judge. But he won't get sympathy from me when he kills himself in the process.

Promoting the use of dangerous illegal drugs is a habit?

Also important to mention is that a lot of the audience he's promoting to are lower class kids, who are badly educated in these subjects

bascially my view

Exactly this.

He's a punk to me because he promotes it, not because he does it. What he does in his personal life is none of my business. I won't judge him for that. He seems like a nice guy in his interviews. But I don't have sympathy for him. What he chooses to do is his fault.

I've seen this "promoting" term brought up a few times. Is he actually promoting, or is he just rapping about how much he enjoys ingesting cough syrup? Not his fault if others decide to try it for themselves.

I don't think violent video games promote genocide either.

Touche.

Only thing I can say in my defense here, is that doing drugs is much easier and more rational (shouldn't be rational) than buying guns and killing people.

Can we stop now and do fun stuff like we usually do? :/ Getting kinda ridiculous mang

It's just a debate. We all know each other well enough to not take flame each other.

It's an interesting break from our usual inane ramblings.

You're splitting some serious hairs here.

So commercials aren't promoting? They're just telling you how awesome the product is and it's our choice to buy it or not? So promoting doesn't exists then?

Promoting it is exactly what he's doing. Look at those pictures. "How fly am I? Got my Sizzurppp." Singing about how awesome it is and having your picture taken drinking the stuf is actually more powerful than a television commercial.

You actually make a great point. Didn't think of that. Add that to my last post, pretty much.

Commercials have the sole purpose of telling you to buy their product. Their existence depends on that especially when a good portion of them say "buy this now".

Lil Wayne raps about stupid **** and how much he enjoys indulging in hedonism. Dumb, but that's him. If one is to seriously take up drugs because they see a picture of Wayne holding Sizzurp, that speaks far more negatively about them than it does him.

Technically Lil Wayne does promote the drugs he takes. With the amount of drugs he had when he was arrested, I think it's pretty safe to say he's also a drug dealer.

I've been loving up to Macklemore way too much already, but he takes/drinks/whatevers codeine too.

Except his raps are about how bad it is, how you shouldn't take it, and how people shouldn't look up to it.
