Almost everything.

Apparently on The Jeselnik Offensive, Anthony Jeselnik was making fun of a recent shark attack victim. That's crossing the line, IMO.

I'm very big into stand-up comedy. I went to this show in the city and as a Jew, I don't care if anyone makes fun of Jews. If I laugh at all the jokes they make about other races, religions, and whatnot, I shouldn't get upset. I actually laugh at the jokes directed at Jews, but this one guy started making jokes about the Holocaust. I felt like killing him.

I'm a white atheist, so if I make a joke about anything I'm either a racist or hater.

All I got from this is that he wants to do whatever he wants to do. Not exactly promoting.

I'm not good at deducing rap lyrics, but I believe the song at the end goes

"I'm a syrup sipping ******. So high you couldn't reach me"

And like I said, it's giving me mixed feelings. It does seem like he tried to quit

It's still promoting something though. That's my point. Whether you choose to do that thing he's singing about is up to you.

Case in point: My friend's little brother was drinking something a few years back that he called "sizzurp" It was cough syrup mixed with vodka and sprite. I said, "Damn dude the **** you doing that for?" and he said, "You never heard Lil Wayne's song? This **** is dope."

Now I know as far as anyone knows I could be making that up, but I'm telling you, I'm not. My friend's little brother is stupid for doing that. He's stupid for listening to a rapper and trying to do what the rapper does. Since then, he still does. He buys hats, pants, all kinds of stuff that rappers wear, it's insane. I've never been that way, in fact, I don't even buy things because of commercials, but a lot of people do and that's why we have advertising campaigns with Britney Spears drinking Coca Cola or Michael Jordan wearing Fruit of the Looms. It's all the same thing.

So what you're saying is, consumerism has been the problem all along.

I buy Rangers jerseys cause the Rangers wear them. :naughty: Just yankin your chain man :D Actually it's because Sather promises eternal glory and everlasting life.

What? I clearly said I don't care if you want to make fun of any religion. I actually think racist jokes are funnier than non-racist jokes. There's a difference between that and making fun of six million people who were tortured to death.

I laugh at jokes directed towards Jews just as much as other jokes. I don't laugh at Holocaust jokes.

Now I'm going to create my own rap duo with Killem.

MC Richards and DJ Dafoe and we are going to ditch the subtleties and directly talk about how awesome drugs/debauchery/pre-martial sex/not putting the lid down are cool.

Humor is here to help cope with what can be very serious stuff. Holocaust jokes, **** jokes, drug jokes, you name it. Fine by me.

We'll **** now you're preaching to the choir. I use humor as a defense mechanism all the time. The more serious the situation is the goofier I get, It's mind blowing. I certainly understand the use for laughing during something tragic, and in all honesty, I've been debating a lot of this for the sake of debating, I do feel sorry for anyone who has anything happen to them, but you need to understand that if someone does drugs to the extent where they lose their life because of it, it's the ultimate stupid thing you can do and feel bad for a young or good life lost? Yes. But to the point where laughing at it is taboo? I would disagree.

I laugh at jokes directed towards Jews as well as I do as other jokes. I don't laugh at Holocaust jokes.

No I mean in general. Like I'm just saying that's usually how it's perceived around here. Not directed at you at all. :handclap: I don't make fun of stuff like that.

Well in my opinion, blaming a musician for influencing you to do drugs is like blaming McDonald's for making you fat, you have free will and if a musician influences you to do drugs then that's your own weakmindedness.

No ones arguing this at all, never mind. I still wouldn't constitute what Lil Wayne does as "promoting".

I will joke about virtually everything. Can't think of a topic I won't joke about.

You heard my rap song. LOL Let's do it, pre marital sex will be my thing. (obviously) Which, funnily enough, I only did because Snoop Dog told me to.

No one's arguing that at all. We all agree with that. If you are dumb enough to ruin your life because of a song or commercial then that's your choice.

Then I think you might be missing the point of humor in those specific circumstances. Joking about things like the Holocaust helps us move past them as a race. The comedians aren't spitting on the victims remains. Same can be said for jokes about slavery, war, terrorist attacks, etc.

Joan Rivers got way too much flak the other month.

I will joke about someone's death in a tragic bar stool accident that happened no more than a day ago.

As long as its funny though. Unfunny jokes that are tasteless don't go very far....

I honestly joke about some serious ****. Whenever my fiance and I go out somewhere fancy or serious she needs to give me "the talk" before we go in because I'll say whatever just because that's how I am. Man, if she was here right now she would be nodding her head so hard.

Ok, so I need to go but real quick, an example:

I'm eating dinner at my ex's house. It was the first time I had ever met her parents and we were both equally as nervous. During some time in the middle of dinner her Dad was talking about their family.

"We're all positive here Sean." he said, "I'm positive, Joanna's mother is positive, we're just real positive people through and through, you understand?" I nodded. "Even my brother who was just a positive kind of guy all the way to his death." He looks at my girlfriend at the time. "You remember sweetie? She remembers the day he passed."

I say, "Was he HIV positive?"

That's an example of how I am. Nervous = terrible jokes.
