Mount Arrowsmith Brewing
@yukoner88

My nephew is in yellowknife now working so hoping to get up there sometime in next year or two. Have been to Yukon before but it was a bit of a rushed trip due to distance. It probably would have been cheaper than the BC trip we are doing. Sounds like fuel isn't any more than here.
The landscape around Yellowknife is beautiful, but downtown is a mess, and I’d suggest avoiding that area when/if you go.

Old Town is fantastic though. Bullocks Bistro and the Woodyard/NWT Brewing are the things I miss most about living in YK.

When you travelled to Mayo with your son, did you guys travel up with steroid infused in your blood and then let the mosquitoes up here bite you and infect the entire mosquito population here with your steroid blood??!!??

They are ruthless this year!!!
Lol, no I was there in the dead of an arctic. Winter so flys and mosquitoes weren’t any issue, but let me tell you about the windchill!!. Living here in Sask, this year the wasps are horrible though. I just went into town this morning and tried to buy wasp traps and the guy at Coop just laughed at me. Out of stock. Next stop, Amazon.ca for a Prime order, hopefully they have some.

Happy Canada day everybody. We got an Elks win and really bad weather. But I'll take it.

Anyway we missed 2nd half (recorded it) and went out to Sherwood Park to see their Canada Day which is usually decent. This time due to them closing off all the parking lots (WTF) we end up parking on a Street. Then later find out that this will be iffy, and they might be towing. So we get back to vehicle just in time to see them slapping no parking signs on street where we had just parked 30mins before and no signs were there. They put them out AFTER vehicles were parked on Oak street. lol. What wankers. So realizing that parking around could be dicey and might get ticketed we do what we're told to do which is go to Bethel Park and ride. This being what is stated on the Canada Day website;

Start your day on the right foot! Take the FREE Park N Ride from the Bethel Transit (650 Bethel Drive) Terminal off Baseline Road

Departures
start at 8:30 a.m. from Bethel Transit Terminal (650 Bethel Drive) to Broadmoor Lake Park operating every 15 minutes. Last departure will be at 11:30 p.m.

Returns start at 8:45 a.m. from in front of Festival Place operating every 15 minutes. Last departure will be at 11:45 p.m.

Note it says every 15mins shuttle all day. Both ways. This is an absolute lie. By 9;20 we wanted to pack it up and go. basically nothing was going on at the fest. Some band called Tim and the boys or something. Werent' interested and it had dropped to 10C and with wind (ridiculous) and feeling like its going to rain. So we go to shuttle area. No shuttle. We wait 15mins, no shuttle. Talk to officials around asking wheres the shuttle. Suddenly 10mins later 3 shuttle buses arrive at once. We get on first one. Then we're told well you can sit here for over an hour if you want. but we're not leaving, we're not running the shuttle with just a few people on. They say theres no Shuttle heading back till AFTER Fireworks. Its 9;40. We need to wait an hour and a half. (This in stated contrast to what was supposed to be 15 min service)

We wanted to go home. We weren't' provided shuttle access to go home. Had to wait till fireworks were over. By the time the first bus exits its 11;20 and takes a stupid route and we're behind traffic the whole way back. Don't get back to the shuttle area until 11:45. This of note more than two hours after we wanted to leave. On the bus we're the only ones wearing masks. But on that crowded bus at least half a dozen other people (not wearing masks) are coughing and hacking the whole time. This being the type of public behavior that people think is acceptable after 2.5yrs of a world pandemic? I mean multiple individuals were coughing non stop like they have Covid. f*** this shit. NEVER going back. NEVER taking the shuttle again.

They try to get people to use shuttle and this is what it ends up being.

Should note as well one of the reasons we wanted to go home was we were both cold, tired, hungry. They advertised food trucks would be around. In total they had 4 food trucks and one of them shut down early. There were 3 others and with lineups over 100 long. I don't know how long those lineups would take but these had to be the most inefficient food trucks I've ever seen. We just wanted a couple caramel apples and were told to wait in line that was a block long. Like they couldn't have anybody just selling the quick snacks? Ridiculous. We basically couldn't get food or drink. That was all that was on site.

Wonder if anybody knows who I could forward some of these concerns to.

I might be getting some old family 8mm films, does anyone know if there are any projectors still being made? Does anyone here know much about them?

I once broke an overhead projector in gr 8.

When you trip over their power cord, which causes them to get yanked off a desk.......

They make one hell of a bang when they drop 4ft and hit the ground.

We took ours into a local media conversion business, and they converted the film to digital. Price wasn’t too bad, and now we have the flexibility to play it just about anywhere and share it easily.

This was my area of expertise in class. If there was a power cord around anywhere I'd be tripping over it. I still have the skill years later.
