Was walking in my neighbourhood and got cat called by a few of the French speaking female cyclists that were in a huge group.

I’ve still got it! (Unless they cat call everyone to make us feel better)

lol didn't even know this was going on. Edmonton is so bad at publicizing events. I was busy snorting about almost all the roads leading to Hawreluk park being close wondering whats going on. Just to alert people on road closures you'd figure City could do a better job of letting people know what kind of traffic gongshow clousres are going on. Would have stayed home.

I had no idea it was happening either and I friggin live over here. Coming up I thought there was a massive crime scene because of the yellow tape and flashing police lights!

The amount of residents looking for their towed/moved vehicles was stupid too.

Yep. City doesn't have a clue how to get info out. EVERYBODY knew there were two Garth Brooks shows on at Commonwealth on the weekend. Constantly promoted, on every radio, TV spot, in papers etc. Never heard a stitch about the Cycle event going on. Not a word.

heh, I used to even be a cyclist and i didn't know anything about this event occurring here. This created gridlock and closures far beyond what is stated. For instance due to Groat Rd and River Valley road being closed the Police just decided to close the main southside thru put to Hawrelak as well. So in effect they backed up the closures, that are not even announced on the site. There was an event at Hawreluk as well and hard to get to. Had to go up thru Campus, and then down Sask Drive. The way back home was worse. Effectively there was no sensible way to drive back to the hood. Gridlock for miles.

ps Isn't DT these days always a crime scene? ;)

Thats a crime, but a diff topic.

hey y'all should have been at the beer truck at hawreluk yesterday. Some knockout stacked brunette serving. Yowsa. Nobody was even buying beer and I can't...she looked lonely and bored..

What a gongshow. The moment I start using a browser that facilitates decent adblocking without slowing my computer down to a snails pace these messages start coming on. I finally got completely fed up as regular redirects to adds were happening here. You would click on a thread and instead of getting the thread you'd be redirected to an add. Seems like hfboards was compromised in some way. I was not getting this on any other site.

Important to mention I've never used adblocks here before but I felt forced into it. It was getting impossible to use the site and navigate. One thread was constantly being redirected to adds. Really weird. I've run every scan possible on my end. Seems like its board issue. Could also be my past browser having an issue. Once again I've kicked any Microsoft programming I can to the curb. f*** of edge, f*** off bing search engine that I NEVER want but comes on anytime theres a FORCED update by Microshit.

rant almost done, probably not..

Well that escalated quickly.
I kept wondering why she was opening the window to the inside instead of just letting it outside. All kinds of dumb in that video. Just go outside, pop the screen and one pane of sliding window. Problem solved, no squirrel running around inside, no dog getting combustive consumption rabies.. That woman screams a lot. That would get old quick.

Well folks, after nearly three years when we put our beloved friend-beast down, my wife and I had talked about getting another one. My kids really missed having a dog in the house and so did I.

Fate intervened two weeks ago when a lady my wife knows had an 8 week old puppy her and her husband suddenly no longer had the time to give the pup proper attention due to sudden changes in their work lives. She offered her to us first and after meeting the pup (who instantly ran to me and jumped in my arms upon meeting her), we took her.

Best part is, we didn't tell our kids. My 9 year old daughter asked if we were there to puppy-sit. I said "Well, depending on how things go right now it might be more than that."

You could see the wheels turning in her head and my12 tear old boy asks "Are we buying her?". I said "Depending on how this goes, yes we might be buying her and coming home with us."

My little girl's lower lip starts to quiver and she bursts into tears. The pup almost formed an instant bond with the kids. The owners welcomed us into their backyard where the pup and the kids just played and played. The owners wanted her to go to a loving home where she'd get this kind of attention and love. They offered us a price we couldn't refuse and took her home. The kids named her "Kimchi" which is a Korean/Japanese spicy and fermented cabbage side dish. The name suits her...she is a spicy pup lol.

So, here she is. Her dad is a goldendoodle-labdoodle mix and her mom is a labdoodle but the golden retriever in her is really prevalent. She's such a good little puppy, super smart and settled right into our home. My daughter had a rough school year and we really noticed she was becoming so anxious to the point we considered her being seen for anxiety but since Kimchi came into her life, she's been "therapy" for her, so to speak.

Thanks for sharing this story. Your kids remind me of when we got a puppy and I was 8yrs old. It was a beautiful friendly Lab-Golden retriever cross. The type black with a gold T on chest and gold eyebrows. He lived until 17 and shared so many chapters of life with me and my family before he passed.

When we got the pup there were 6 puppies in a basket to choose from jumping around. One of them went right to my dad and offered up his paw as if to shake his hand. My dad, who had stated we aren't getting a puppy, melted in a way I'd never seen before and we got the puppy. My dad would occasionally complain it was the only time our dog shaked paw, but he loved him like a spouse. This puppy never stopped being the love in the room in a chaotic family. Was also such a hero. Once chased off and treed a black bear that had been around (we didn't see it) when we we were young.

When I was a kid, my parents were adamant about not getting a dog. We went to the pet store to get some fish for a tank my parents bought.

We ended up seeing a beagle there and pretty much instantly after getting to meet the dog my parents had decided that he was coming home with us

@yukoner88

My nephew is in yellowknife now working so hoping to get up there sometime in next year or two. Have been to Yukon before but it was a bit of a rushed trip due to distance. It probably would have been cheaper than the BC trip we are doing. Sounds like fuel isn't any more than here.
