Prospect Info: OT - The Beer Thread, Parte Deux

That's just what you Bud Light drinkers have convinced yourselves of in order to feel better.
;)

 just in case...the last thing I want is a bunch of angry macrobeerers after me.

I enjoy almost all beers, but when I am having my nightly beers I have to go light....Coors Light is #1 for me for the week night beers or nights where many beers are consumed. If I am out for a dinner or some work social function and I am going to just have a couple then I enjoy Bass, many IPA's as well as many more.

But I will say that there are two things equally annoying...the macrobeer only guy as well as the micro beer douchey guy. To each their own and neither should look down on each other....because hey, its just beer. Enjoy!

as a canadian, I really like Original 16 and now they make a O-16 copper which is great.

I also enjoy Rickards White. and Kronnenburg 1667 blanc.

I do have a favourite american beer. Blue Moon. I was in vegas and had it. Really nice. Can't get it up here though. :(

Stone makes a solid IPA, but IMO, nobody makes a better IPA than Lagunitas.

The Lagunitas IPA is right up there, but my favorite all time is Hopalicious from Ale Asylum, a small brewery in Madison, WI, where I sometimes travel for work. It's my favorite IPA, and I love IPAs.

Kate, I agree that most Sam Adams is overrated (especially Sam Summer, which is one of my least favorites). But the IPA-ology specialty pack is not overrated at all. It's a twelve-pack of pairs of six different IPAs.

Can you tell I love my beers hoppy?

And we always have Coors light in the fridge, because you can't have a heavy beer EVERY time (plus, that's what the missus drinks).

I try not to be that douchey guy, problem is I really don't like the taste of macros. If you want to drink it, that's cool, to each his own. I would rather not drink beer than drink a macro, just my 2 cents.

Lately, trying to get back to my fighting weight of 185, and I have not had a beer since January. Vodka and soda has way less calories, only problem is that they are pricey if you are out.

That, and it's fast track to drunk town.

Stoli Strawberry/razz

Absolut Citron/grape are cheaper alternative if you're out. I can't do well vodka with club soda though. It's not like rum and coke where the cola masks the taste.

German and Czech beer for me please!

König Pilsener, Radeberger, Flensburger, Urquell & Budvar:cheers:

There's nothing like a good German or Austrian beer....Dortmunder (DAB), Becks, Radeberger, Erdinger, Gosser, Stiegl........cheers!

Not sure what part of Canada you are in, but I can say Ontario is NOT a great place for a lover of beer due to a limited selection.
I am trying a couple beers right now from Unibroue as I have migrated from German to Belgian beers; La Fin Du Monde and Maudite. Not sure if they are worth the price.
I like traveling to the USA where selection can be awesome. The beer stores in PA make me drool, but alas I can only bring one case back with me duty free.
I'm reading up on what it takes to brew your own.

Tell me about it.

There's a woman that I go out with occasionally for a drink after work and she could always drink me under the table. She is a beer connoisseur, and it used to be that, but she goes out a lot more than I do (husband tends bar part time) so she started drinking vodka to cut back on calories.

Well, now she can still drink me under the able, it just happens a lot quicker  I have to be careful when I am drinking vodka, it sneaks up on you real quick.

I have been drinking the Stoli Raz or Orange and soda when I do go out (which is not often). At first I could not do regular vodka and plain soda, but it's growing on me. I do have to put a lemon or lime in it though.

Once I get down to 185, in sure I will go back to the occasional beer. There is nothing like a good ice cold beer on a hot summer's day :D

Wife and I are big time beer lovers. It's been tough to cut back since she could not drink. Luckily she does not like ipa so I got away with that. Smuttynose ipa or back bay ipa from beer works are my faves

Most of the IPA's are a little too hoppy for me, I like something smoother. Although I will drink Sierra Nevada's IPA on occasion.

Have you found any beers from Portugal that are remotely good? It was rough when I was there a few years ago.

embarrassed to respond lol.

Almost everything i've had was/is - Meh. Needless to say, in the fridge downstairs i keep a case of Sagres handy just in case dad or uncles are around because you can't tell them that theres a better beer because its from the motherland.

Portuguese beer from my personal experience = amber Pale ales that drink like a light beer. However I did come across a beer called "Cintra" that relatives from Toronto (originated from st. miguel) brought down to me when a family member visited them from portugal. It was decent and I doubted it came from portugal, but they swore it did and I haven't been able to find out anything about it since.

Portuguese people are just to dedicated to Wine + Spirits

Sagres is only good when housing termocos and watching soccer. Which is pretty much every night.

I give them credit, they know how to finish their meals. Fruit dessert bagaco espresso smoke sagres termocos.

I am like that with stout. I like the nitro Guinness but that is lighter than the foreign.

Scotch ale is the worst though. Bleh

If I had to pick one all-around beer that was good in Summer, Winter, whenever...it has to be BBC's Steel Rail Pale Ale. It's smooth, not too heavy, but still has a lot if flavor, and you can drink it in about any situation.

To me, Steel Rail is the Patrice Bergeron of Beers :D

haha when you consume that much salt I suppose any beer would feel nice washing it down

Some off the top of my head:

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy
Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
Southern Tier Choklat
Skrimshaw Pilsner
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Dogfishhead: Punkn, 60/90 minute IPA
Stone Ruination
Southern Tier Pumking
Smuttynose (anything)
Terrible
Lagunitas IPA
Chimay (various)
Victory: Golden Monkey, Headwaters Pale Ale, Twelve, Hop Devil

Many, many more...

Back in the day, I never liked IPAs nor Stouts. As I got more and more into craft brew, I kept sampling everything because I wanted to appreciate all of the styles.

Nowadays my favorite styles are overly-hopped IPAs and extra dark stouts. :)
