Prospect Info: OT - The Beer Thread, Parte Deux

I'm off to nz and aus what is their beer scene like. What's good?

If you can get a beer with Nelson Sauvin hops, GET IT. Its a new zealand hop.

My favorite hop, very floral and flavorful. Widmer Brothers does a rotator series of IPA's, I always wait for the Nelson Sauvin IPA seasonal.

One of the few reasons I wish I lived closer to VT. Nowhere in sight on the South Shore.

Yup, and even when the Alchemist has Heady Topper, it goes real fast and you can only buy one 4-pack per person.

Not worth the 3 hour drive, IMHO.

...

I'm an Asahi guy. A beer so good, it makes me wonder why I drink other beers.

I tried a couple of Asahi beers last night and they were very good. I was leery of buying them at first when I saw they were brewed in Japan. After that nuclear meltdown 2 years ago I thought the beer might glow in the dark, but they didn't.

Very jealous of all of the American craft brews you guys have access to. In Ontario the government doesn't really stock any of them.
It really is a modern day travesty!
I was in Holland, MI this week, the local Meijer store has a better selection, and you can buy your groceries, windshield wipers and a pair of jeans at the same time.
I have heard that if you want something particular, you can ask and they may get it in for you.
Haven't gone down that road, I'm afraid of the prices.

Will be watching game 2 from my backyard grilling and drinking.

I've been feeling 21st Amendment again, but feel I should try something else. What is recommended?

Then it's no beer;)

No fruits in my beer!

Tomorrow I will go pick some of these:

You're from Switzerland, so you probably have the Reinheitsgebot for beer like in Germany, too, I guess?

I, myself, have become quite open minded towards other flavours in beer over the last couple of years. I had a cherry wheat in Boston, or a coffee chocolate stout from Belgium among others, just for example.

I mean the purity law is a good thing. No chemicals, just hops, barley, yeast and water, but I don't mind any other stuff in beer, as long as it is no chemical, artificial additive, or plain sugar just to make it sweeter etc...

Yeah, I'm from Switzerland and together with Norway we are the only other country to have adpoted the German Reinheitsgebot.

Guess I'm just a purist:)
I simply never had the desire to drink a beer that tastes like strawberry or mango. Not a big fan of Belgian beer either.

no idea if these have been posted but both are at the top of my list at the moment. can't go wrong with a landshark either.

Grey Sail Brewery in Westerly, RI is new, but make quality beer. The Flying Jenny Amber Ale is my favorite. Think I'll go get one right now!
