I read that since the Cards are drafting 5th in 2025, they can’t draft any higher than 10th in 2026. Is that right?

Is 2025 considered a strong draft?

Really strong at the top thus far, led by Ethan Holliday (son of our very own Matt Holliday). More talent in high school than college thus far, but there's plenty of time for rankings to change. It helps us to pick 5th, in addition to Comp B and second-round picks; it means that there's more bonus money to potentially sign those high schoolers, potentially an arm or an outfield bat.
Memento knows her shit about baseball. Impressive knowledge of that sport.

You're going to make me blush, Chicago. If I knew my shit, I'd be employed by a baseball team, not spending time here. :P

According to one baseball insider on X thus far, but since other teams that contribute to the sport monetarily via revenue sharing instead of receiving, those teams can't win the lottery in consecutive years. In addition, teams that receive revenue sharing cannot win the lottery after two consecutive years in it, which is why the A's this year and Rockies next year won't be eligible to win either.

Since the White Sox have been on the same end (lottery winner last year as a "payor" club), they can't pick higher than 10th when they were the worst team in modern baseball history, so it makes sense that we're in a similar situation next year.
