I'm remaining open minded. To compare it to Blues moves, is this a Bozak type move, where we have an O'Reilly on the horizon, or is it more of a Derek Roy type move, where we aren't going to land the big pitcher that we need, and we are chasing vets that we can hope bounce back and at least eat innings.

I'm just pessimistic on them spending upwards of $50M+ next season on the 3 new starters.

The thing is, they have been about 10th in income and have been around 10th in spending and they have money that came off the books, so I can see them spending that money on pitching, but...
the real question is where they forecast their income levels with Ballys ending their broadcasts after the 2024 season, that is a lot of money that was "guaranteed" that will have to be replaced

He was bad last year due in large part to an inflated home run rate, which usually is a blip but you could argue is age-related decline. The Cards park significantly suppresses home runs, so he's not a bad bet for recovery. And in two of the past five years, he was challenging for the Cy Young.

You could certainly do worse with that $10 million.

And in some ways, I'm encouraged because a lot of the rhetoric from the front office shifted from acquiring 3 pitchers to getting 2.5 or 2 recently. But signing Lynn makes me feel that 3 may really be in the cards. I doubt they come away from the offseason with Lance Lynn as their second strongest acquisition, as that certainly wouldn't appease the fanbase.

Still lots of offseason to go, so we'll just have to wait and see...

Yeah looking more and more like a disappointing offseason. Looking like it will be a 1 year 12 mil deal with a team option for next year. So that's 22 mil out of our budget gone

I smell a trade for a high potential starting pitcher coming up. The offseason literally just started and people need to quit overreacting. If it still looks the same come free agency yes start whining like bitch babies, but winter warmups haven’t happened yet.

I mean, hopefully this means a ton of money is being allocated for Yamamoto. This rotation is either going to suck, or there are still mutliple moves coming.

Yup typical response. Fans in general are ass hats and way too reactionary. Unlike you despite some of their past transgressions and giving out questionable contracts , I still prefer to be patient and not judge until the roster is set.
"Pitching, pitching, pitching" -John Mozeliak

So far:
Lance Lynn (36 years old)- 5.73 ERA/44 HR allowed
Kyle Gibson (36 years old) - 4.73 ERA/lead league in hits allowed (198)

Yeah not like Mo has ever had an underwhelming offseason. His track record speaks for himself, we should trust him.

I like it. At least he’s durable. Be good here with defense.
Hope you're right but that near 6 ERA and league leading HR's given up doesnt look good from a 36 year old.

I dont know what they are doing but Im okay with it if it means MO and some others get axed for it.

Biggest problem last year seemed to be overworking our bullpen and not getting quality starts. You now have three guys that can get you to the seventh inning. Last year you only had two. If you throw in a Yamamoto, I will take it. You still retain your first round draft, pick, which actually should be a decent one for a change.
