True. Not sure why the Twitter guy is saying perfecto. But my point is that the dude looks pretty nasty. Thoughts?

Read up on him a bit 91-95 which is fine velo for a starter. If he wants to advance past double A though he’s going to have to develop some good offerings. None of his pitches really grade well. You’re probably looking at a possible number 5 if he can reach the major leagues. Fastball isn’t really electric enough to think he can live without a couple of plus offspeed offerings.

However, the best thing about him is he doesn’t walk hardly anyone.

Single-A isn’t a really good telling point of how a guys stuff will play. A lot of guys there are working different approaches or trying to develop pitches etc. but walk rates are pretty consistent. He’ll probably be able to play up a bit on his ceiling due to the command and repeatability.

Wonder how long his arm lasts. He seems like really puts a lot of effort behind his pitches.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Hard to see from that camera angle if his mechanics are rough, but given his walk rates I’d imagine his delivery is very repeatable which is a really good sign. That being said, arm injuries as long as they aren’t rotator cuffs are pretty common nowadays and aren’t really too worrisome. A lot of guys gain velocity out of it due to the strengthening of different muscle groups rehab puts you through.

The problem with all of our pitching prospects is that they all have one thing in common - their K/9 is below or just barely 9 K/9. Hence is just above 9 K/9 in High A and Hjerpe is comfortably above 9 K/9 in High A also but when you cannot strike out a batter per inning in the minors, those pitchers tend to be found out very quickly in the majors.

It's not the end all be all but in terms of expecting any of these guys to be elite, front of the rotation starters, I would not expect it at all. The best pitching prospects in baseball that come up and are expected to be elite arms are all in that 12-15 K/9. We have nothing like that.

As an aside, this is totally an organization philosophy that has put us in the position we are in. They have preached pitching and defense from the top down and expect pitchers to pitch to contact (and have drafted ground ball guys) and the defense to mop everything up. I mean, Masyn Winn is our next best prospect after Walker and he is only up there because of his defense. He will not be an impact bat. It's like we've gone back to the 90s while everyone has progressed. Defense-first SS's are no longer a thing, Mo.

I agree with this. I have not liked a lot of the selections the Cardinals have made on the pitching side aside from a few

I wonder what the return for Flaherty and Monty would look like? High end prospects? Mid tier prospects?

Gotta trade Jack. Package him and one of the surplus outfielders for good starting pitching prospects.

Interesting - not familiar with him. If he has a HBP, then that’s not perfect, right? Still stellar, but if he finishes the game with 0 hits, 0 walks, but a HBP, that’s not a perfect game, that’s just a no-hitter?

he has Andujar’s number, maybe Rajcic is a Dominican name :)

Even if they both go the team still sucks but I agree something needs to be changed. They need to hire from outside the org for a change
mo only goes for managers he can control since TLR left. he passed on francona years ago for matheny.
