Wonder who they can get for play by play.2nd time was more than enough. Unacceptable on all accounts.
No clue. But dude needs to get some help.Wonder who they can get for play by play.
It's a real shitty situation for him and his family. I truly do like the man Danny Mac and hope he does get the help he needs. I glad that for this time, he didn't cause any harm to anyone on the roadways. No clue. But dude needs to get some help.
Maybe John Kelly can transition to MLB. He's already used to working with a washed up former player in Panger, why not also do the same with Edmonds.
Murphy is far and away the best catcher in that group. Unless it costs Walker we should be all over him.Goold's article this morning made it seem like if we trade for a catcher, then we will be more aggressive with a free agent SS, but if we have to sign a catcher, then less active in the SS market. The 4 listed were Murphy, Jansen, Contreras, and Vazquez, with Murphy being the top target.
I kind of wonder if Murphy costs Gorman or Donovan, and that's why we'd be more interested in the SS market.Murphy is far and away the best catcher in that group. Unless it costs Walker we should be all over him.
If I’m being honest, I’d move Gorman for Murphy without losing sleep, especially if we can land a shortstop. Donovan and Edman are more than good enough to hold down second baseI kind of wonder if Murphy costs Gorman or Donovan, and that's why we'd be more interested in the SS market.
Murphy comes with 3 years of control too, so that's a big plus.
Especially if the plan is to spend big money on Swanson or Bogarets. Move Edman to 2nd, and Donovan is still there to be the utility guy.If I’m being honest, I’d move Gorman for Murphy without losing sleep, especially if we can land a shortstop. I’d be very happy if that’s how the off-season plays out. Walker really is the only untouchable for me, and I don’t even know if I’d call him untouchable in the right deal.Especially if the plan is to spend big money on Swanson or Bogarets. Move Edman to 2nd, and Donovan is still there to be the utility guy.
No thanks then. I don't mind trading Nootbar at all but Gorman is going to be a 30hr bat as soon as a year or two from now.A's want MLB ready players. I really think it's going to be end up being Gorman+Noot+another or similar package.
Think they really want Murphy, so they have budget for free agents, but Athletics are probably playing hardball.Oli was on MLB Network. Cards had some good meetings with Contreras, but are looking at all routes for an upgrade at the Catcher spot. Murphy and Contreras are looking to be the two main targets.
100% and I don't blame them.Think they really want Murphy, so they have budget for free agents, but Athletics are probably playing hardball.
Makes sense for all parties, honestly. Cubs get someone who can put a few butts in seats during another down year and Bellinger gets to play in a stress-free environment for a year where he knows expectations aren't high so he can try and put up the best stats he can and be moved to a contender and then go on the market again with higher value.Cubs got Bellinger, 1 year, 17.5M. I'd pass on that.
I think that package is wayyy too much for Murphy. Gorman is highly thought of with plenty of control. They don't need another top 100 MLB prospect in Liberatore or Graceffo AND another player who has had great minor league numbers, all of which have as much team control as you can want.Murphy won't return Walker. Not many top 10 prospects get traded and only for people like Juan Soto. Plus with rumors the Athletics want Major League ready talent I think some combination of Gorman/Liberatore/Burelson/Yepez with someone else like Joshua Baez/McGreevy/Graceffo. Honestly I think the cardinals package is something like Gorman, Liberatore/Graceffo, and Burleson with some random player thrown in.
But the thing is we are competing against many other teams for him. It will take an overpay from our end. I mean Cleveland can offer 1 of Valera/Williams/Bibee who will be ranked around the 20-40 range similar to when Gorman was a prospect. Tampa is in the hunt and they can offer similar prospects to Gorman. I also don't have much faith at all in Liberatore. His fastball sucks and is his worst pitch and he had a era of 5 in Triple A and in the Majors. He will have to totally revamp his fastball for him to become a starting pitcher unless he can pitch like Max Fried and reverse pitch his way through a game. It will take at least 2 top 100 prospects for him minimumMakes sense for all parties, honestly. I think it'd likely be Gorman and a couple prospects outside the top 10 Cards system that should get it done.
lmao thats a lot of money for a OF Paul DejongCubs got Bellinger, 1 year, 17.5M. I'd pass on that.
