Ritchie scores his first career NHL goal/point but then is played the least that he's been played in any of the 3 games.

His TOI per game:
Game 1: 16:05 (6th among COL Fs)
Game 2: 15:10 (6th among COL Fs)
Game 3 (tonight): 13:07 (9th among COL Fs)

And 3 minutes of that 13:07 came at the end of the game with a very long 6-on-5 with the goalie out

Clearly the losses of Ritchie, Roobroeck, Rolofs, Kumpulainen, Punnet, Lockhart, Bedkowski and Desile have been nothing short of huge and the Barlow addition doesn’t come close to replacing everything. Really not surprising this team is struggling early, that said they should have more than enough talent to be a good team.

However, they winning anything in the playoffs without Ritchie coming back which I expect. Might need Roobroeck back too

Kumpulainen was a shock for sure but he wasn't a world beater and was also kinda Soft. Sinivuori will do fine replacing him.

Punnet, Lockhart and Rolofs is part of the game, no surprise there.

Ritchie will be back at the end of the month

Roobroeck is getting 4th line minutes in Hartford right now so if that keeps up, he could return.

Bedkowski and Delisle, well, self explanatory.

Obviously Roobroeck coming back would be nice but for sake of argument let's say he doesn't.

Oshawa will definitely look to add an OA cause the current 3 aren't the best available. Oshawa just won't make an OA decision until Roobroeck is confirmed.

I can still see Oshawa filling out the back end with a Konnor Smith and Bronson Ride. Those 2 would definitely change the landscape of our defence and give the offence more confidence. With the way Marrelli and Sandhu are playing offensively and Danford and Svozil on defence, I can see D'Amato being part of the OA trade for Smith. I know some folks around don't see it but I guess that's just my opinion.

Ride is would be a great add of size an toughness to compliment the rest.

If those moves came true, our defence could be...

Marelli-Danford
Sandhu-Smith
Ride-Svozil

That defensive core could be the best in the league.

I also think Oshawa adds another Forward piece. Another 2C but again, depends on Roobroeck.

This team will look vastly different come mid January imo and will right the ship for the playoffs. We just need to trust the process, no matter how bleak and hard they are to watch right now.

I think NB expects an OA season of B.Ride. I’m not sure why so many think he will be traded. Out of curiosity, what could be the Oshawa offer for Ride?

Assume they don't think they'll be contending yet next year and his value this deadline would be a lot higher than it would be next year would be why NB would entertain trade offers, especially after many feel they overpaid for him last year.

No idea what the cost would be, I just know the Gens were going after him last year before NB offered so much so they pulled out of the discussions

Though a couple may not be for long, NB has 11 signed ‘06, a probable OA top pair in place with Ride & Kennedy, and have replaced the traded ‘07-1st; I think the battalion have every intention of trying to contend next season.
Though they are going to need to find a good top six LW/C to do so imo.

Where is Oshawa going to get the picks / players to make any moves ? Unless the DB is not up to date the picks are thin. You're talking about adding 3 players ??

They still have 2 2nds. 2 3rds, and 5 4ths. Plus Brady Smith come January if they decide to go that route. So it really will depend on the ask but Ride would likely cost a 3rd, 2 4ths.

Konnor Smith would be D'Amato plus 2nd and 4th is my guess.

So that leaves them a 2nd, a 3rd and two 4th plus their 08 Brady Smith to get a 2C.

Is that enough to get say a Romani? Maybe who knows but it's not impossible

They'll get a couple picks back for Torrance/D'Amato if they decide to go that route to add to the 2x2nds, 2x3rds, 5x4ths and Brady Smith who would be sought after. They can get 3 players with that fo sure. Especially considering how low the price on stars has been thus far this year. A definite buyers market so far

If they really wanted to get crazy, Owen Griffin would be one of the most highly coveted assets in the entire league. I personally wouldn't trade him for anyone, but the point being they have options, especially if Ritchie/Roobroeck get sent back and you just got a top 3 player in the league and a potential top 5 OA F in the league without giving up a single pick

I’m not so sure that Torrance will net anything of value in this market. D’Amato may get something relatively “ok” but with so many teams flush with OA’s, only the OA’s with high street value will move for anything decent. Centres and d-Men will still get a decent return I think which is why D’Amato may net a 2nd and 3rd. May. That’s a big MAY.

There are a lot of .8 PPG wingers out there. Torrance has more size so it is likely he may be more valued but when there is so much selection, even likely to be on a waiver wire, I am not sure there is any value there that would help the draft picks situation.

The Barlow trade was the mistake. Ritchie and Senneke are already elite forwards. Oshawa needed to use those assets to add depth. Delisle and Bedkowski should not have been traded. They were part of that required depth.

Oshawa would have been better served trying to flip Torrance for an OA Centre (assuming Roobroeck doesn't return). Then tackle some depth issues on defence.

Barlow is a great player but Oshawa already has game breakers. Spending that much on one player is usually reserved for teams that are already set and are spending to get over the top like Hamilton with MacTavish. Adding Barlow and not having Ritchie and Roobroeck returned with so many other holes on the roster was a poor decision IMO.

Oshawa benefitted greatly last year with their patience waiting out the market and plucking Punnett on the cheap. I would have thought they’d do the same this year. Stay patient and pluck the freebies to fill holes on the depth chart. Looks more like London may be the team to take advantage late on deadline day.
