LOL....he is over rated on here....

He is a serviceable D man....a good 3 pairing D man. He is not a first pairing player. 19 points from a player who is playing huge minutes. Schenn out scored him playing far less minutes as did Franson who played 19 games less and far less minutes.

He is over rated.

After the draws he is useless. His biggest weakness? TERRIBLE SKATER, its embarrassing.

Really? Because the only goalie Burke has brought in was Gustavsson, who didn't work out as a #1, but he was the reason we were in the playoff race as long as we were last season.

Reimer did good his first season, got hurt last season, and is coming back this season at full health.

So this idea that "Burke has no idea how to find a good goalie" is idiotic as he has only brought in 1 goalie.

I think you're reading too much into my post. I'm not expecting him to immediately be paired with Phaneuf on the top pair but I do expect him to start the season with the Leafs.

People could say the same thing about the Coyotes. They have a great defensive system though. Hopefully Carlyle can help the team do a lot better than people expect with a strong defensive system. We shall see.

Scrivens? Rynnas? 3 years in the AHL and they are going to be studs? He didnt cut bait fast enough with Vesa Toskala. JS Giguere old and slow? Reimer, Im sorry but Reimer is out of the NHL in 3 year. Not his pick but he still over-rates is blind to what Reimer is. Reimer is slow as anything and his glove hand is horrid.

Sure, he brought those guys in, but they were NEVER supposed to be our "next great goalie" they are supposed to be AHL goalies, that could develop into a decent NHL backup at most

He is not as good as made out to be, but definitely not a 3rd pairing D man. He is a good #3 Dman, but likely a #4 on a contender. He was our best defensive D by far, and a case can be made against some of the better defensive Ds in the league.

Reagrdless, ive been saying for months that this team is short on defensemen and ive been laughed at. Going into the season we are looking at:

Phaneuf - Gunnarsson
Liles - Komisarek
Holzer - Blacker?

Considering Gardiner concussion, Fransons RFA status, and Kostka/Ranger not signed to NHL contracts. It gets worse when we "buy out" Komisarek.

it wasn't until the blueline when Kessel started to glide and did a little move.

I am not comparing Steckel's skating to Kessel's, but he kept up with him, and to do that, you can't be a terrible skater.

I said he was terrible too. Dont look at small sample sizes or decieving video clips. I didnt even click on it to know what the truth here. Steckel is a terrible skater.

He is a poor skater. He still has a place on the Team but probably not for long.

Who do you feel he is a better skater than?
 
Connolly and Lombo are burdens right now. Seriously, no place for them. Problem is, if you cannot trade them, do you play them? If a player has an nhl contract and is making over 900,000$ and is sent to the AHL, his cap hit counts on the nhl roster. So, tough decisions coming up.

Okay, so did Lupul, and Steckel was out skating Lupul.....

So lets trade Lupul?

Bottom line is, to want to get rid of a guy, because he isn't the greatest skater is idiotic. He wins draws, is a great PK'er good defensively, chipping in 15 points while playing what? 5 minutes a night, isn't the worst.

Out of the two Connolly is easily the most valuable despite that salary. There was much left to be desired in terms of his health, effort and offensively ability. The one area he appeared to be useful was the penalty kill. Lombo is pretty useless at everything.
