And then they’ll hire Patrick Marleau or some shit because he’s a French Canadian, until they figure out that he’s not actually that kind of French Canadian (not from Quebec, nor a speaker of French) but they just thought he was because he has a French surname and is Canadian. To which they’ll then bring in Claude Julien for the third time this summer, with Michel Therrien as an assistant just in case Julien 3.0 doesn’t work out.

Cue DD dropping in and saying how the Pengs have won 5 of their last 6 with the only loss being to the huge powerhouse that are the Rags, and they’re now making a charge up the Metro for a playoff spot along with NYb lol.

Stamkos has been washed outside the PP for a while now but since he was with the murderers row of talent in TB it was easier to get at least something out of his at 5v5 and be a real threat on that PP. While I wanted absolutely nothing to do with Marchessault I'm surprised he's THIS bad. The Skjei for McDonagh swap is also a massive downgrade. Skjei's been bad and McDonagh's still an incredible two way D. I can't think of a worse offseason than the one Barry just had.

They may be a little unlucky, but this may be the biggest bust of a season I’ve seen since the 10-11 Devils in the MacLean year.

And I didn’t even think they were a contender at all this year like they were being touted as.

I was quite enjoying how miserably bad they’ve been this year after being force fed all the contender talk this offseason, but I’ve seen enough and now I’m showing them mercy and starting to want it to just end lol.

You don't need to cheap shot. See Avs, Pens. What's held them back the most is the way they play wasn't conducive to creating consistent good looks. That seems better now. Any of the top 6 teams in the East winning the conference wouldn't shock me at this point

You cuts two teams that overwhelmed other teams with speed and skill. Florida wasn’t above cheap shots. I agree thr league seems pretty wide open this season.

I don’t know. He may not be so quick to get a head coaching job after Florida made two straight cup finals appearances and won one of them in the years right after they got rid of him.

And then the Nashville disaster this year, which did come a season after the way overachieved with him there.

Maybe he’ll realistically end up here next year as Keefe’s assistant replacing Colliton after some team gives him a head coaching job.

That's a pretty damn good comparison tbh but the only thing I'd say it's flipped from HC/roster wise. Nashville's roster sucks but their HC is still good imo meanwhile it was reversed for us. People on the main board said I was an idiot for insinuating that Saros's extension was bad because it'll block Askarov and they could've used Saros in a trade piece for a very good forward before that dumb extension
