so… go Kraken and go Flames.

doesn’t move the needle much but the devils could be selecting 8th overall if those teams each get 3 points the rest of the way. (Devils will unfortunately own the ROW tiebreaker over both.)

what team is a harder matchup for the rangers assuming they get the 1 seed?
Pittsburgh because they have the horses to get hot with Karlsson, Letang, Crosby, etc.

The Rangers are going to obliterate Washington or Detroit.

My biggest fear is the Islanders get payback on Carolina this year because the Rangers will smoke the Islanders in the playoffs too.

True but it would also be hilarious seeing Carolina lose early.

Caps-Flyers is the big game tomorrow. Caps win and they get the last playoff spot.

Flyers must win in regulation or they are eliminated. If they Flyers win in regulation they would finish ahead of the Caps based of goal difference tie-breaker (all others would be a draw). Then it would come down to the Red Wings result on Tuesday and the Penguins game on Wednesday.

A Detroit win and a Caps loss would put the Wings in. A point and Caps regulation loss would eliminate the Flyers, but the Pens could leapfrog on a tie breaker with a win on Wednesday.

I wouldn't mind the pens either i think maybe the nhl can give sid a couple favorable calls to advance him. pretty please!

I think Florida comes out of the East. Carolina is always a strong team but they also always seem to fall just short in one area of the formula - it used to be their scoring but they did add depth there this year, now the goaltending is questionable but their defense is more than good enough to potentially overcome that. The Rangers are still too reliant on their goalie and special teams, they could make it to the Final on the back of Shesterkin but they won't beat whoever comes out of the west. Ditto for Tampa Bay who can do damage just on the efforts of their best skaters and Vasi, but their lack of depth is probably going to hold them back. I don't think any of the other teams even have a chance. Boston is a paper tiger and won't win more than a round unless Ullmark goes into full beast mode. Toronto is Toronto. The Islanders, Penguins, Detroit, Washington...none of them are good enough to go far IMO.

In the west...I think it's either Edmonton or Dallas. Colorado feels similar to Tampa except they have worse goaltending. I don't believe Vancouver Winnipeg or LA are the real deal. Vegas has the pedigree but they might be cooked from last year's run.

Islanders in 7 this time. Sorokin is going to win the series for them after Varlamov blows a game or two.

Hope I’m wrong.
In the case the Islanders do win the series, I can't see it coming from 2 games to 0 down.

I picked them to win that series last year because I really didn't take Raanta/Kochetkov or the frequently injured Andersen seriously.

I take Kochetkov more seriously now. Andersen's health is the flip of a coin.

Caps-Flyers. :) Thank you VPN.
I've lost a bit of my desire to watch any hockey right now. I probably will turn the TV on in a couple of minutes, but I wasn't quick to turn it on when the games started tonight. I've been watching other things on youtube.

Anyone but the Caps pls
They're going to be a ROUGH watch

And I think the Rangers SWEEP them, maybe 5.

I think the Rangers would sweep Detroit or take them in 5 also.

Both teams are swamp ass. Washington are much more of a drag to watch though.

It's such a dilemma. I want Sullivan, Pittsburgh getting in almost definitely assures he back, so I don't want them.

Washington are GARBAGE and a complete drag.

Detroit are GARBAGE and maybe a little less of a drag, but I wanna see the Yzerplan burn and all the cult followers to go get on a spaceship to go meet Jesus behind the hale bop comet.

Seeing the Islanders and Capitals get in and Detroit still battling still in it till game 82, along with the Flyers being in it until like game 79 or 80 bodes well for us next year. I think all of those teams could regress or at least most of them.

Andersen since he came back on 3/7:

Kochetkov since 12/12:

Carolina seems ok at goaltending.

Finishing has been the big struggle for both Carolina & Florida in the playoffs in the past.

Florida finally broke the pattern last year, but their finishing has been meh this year so they could struggle with that again.
