Oh God, Oilers intermission talking about programs out there on “How to be a better Canadian “ by recognizing indigenous people and their rights .

Hard “no comment “ or would be banned from here forever .

Too early for the buyout calculator on that one?

He’s really showing why he was looked at as a bust for quite a while. I think he’s like .891% over his last close to 50 games. I ran the numbers a few games ago. Forgot how many he’s played since.
I am honestly very very thankful we did not sign him. Fitz was quick and went with VV enforce the goalie carousel stopped with us being stuck without a goalie and only option was to pay out the ass for a mediocre goalie looking to cash in on his one chance to get paid.
Campbell is a head case and is too high and low depemdig on his confidence. His highs are decent but way too far and between to be a good goalie. He is a starter level goalie for about 15% of the season but is shit outside of that . Complelety the opp of what the Oilers needed. They need a solid consistent guy . Campbell is the opposite of that .

Paul Coffee interview . Rocking out one Stanley Cup ring while holding microphone.
Id wear that shit everywhere I went .. gettig groceries … flash those suckers off.
He has what .. 4 cup rings? Or 5 ? 3 with Oilers and one for sure in Pitt , maybe 2?

That’s where it’s so great having Hughes and Hischier on their contracts. Imagine the Oilers with a legitimate bottom 6 they could roll out like ours? They’d be unstoppable.
It’s almost preferable to have two or more elite guys like us than the top 1-2-3 guys in the game ( in a cap world ) The Oilers needed to go all in when they were on their first contracts after their ELC or ??
Leafs and Oilers are prime example of being too top heavy .
But honestly … what do you do ? Can’t let McD walk or trade him … it would be career suicide . It would take massive balls to do that even if it was the best move for building a team .
It’s a very interesting topic . What do you do ? I think the Lightning had it right . Use assets to acquire guys like Coleman ( very good depth pieces , on bargain contracts . Even if you have to somewhat overpay , who cares ? It’s your best shot at a cup . They tried it several times , most recently with the Hagel and Paul acquisitions .

With us , the Bratt deal will be important. But having Nico , Hughes , Seigs , Marino all on pretty damn good deals helps . It will be key for us having very good prospects coming up we can use for depth that will be cheap fir a few years ( Zetterlund , Holtz , Bahl , Luke , Nemec , Okhotiuk etc) . We will need to get some forward replacements eventually when guys like Mercer , Shara need to get paid

Yeah. It’s tough. And it’s why you’re seeing some GM’s gambling on long term contracts as opposed to bridge deals for their young budding stars.

He was traded to LAK during the year of the Pens second cup win. He was only there for the first one.

I thought he might have had one or two with Detroit, but he wasn’t there by then. I remembered him on the Wings team we swept in the finals, but he was gone by the time they won the cup. I somehow don’t even remember him playing for the Flyers, but it looks like he did during the year where the Red Wings beat them in the finals.

The one guy I was scared of due to his awful rookie year before a strong last season is Husso. I thought with his limited body of work and half of it being awful, he was someone to beware of.

He’s been pretty good for Detroit to this point and that’s why they’re in a playoff spot. He even has a bunch of shutouts already. I think he may have been the target, because we traded for Vanecek literally within an hour of it being announced that Detroit had traded for his rights and then extended him.

But Nedeljkovic did start out hot last year too, which was why they were treading water for a lot of the year and hence the “the Red Wings are finished with their rebuild and we’re not. And they started how many years after us? So frustrating! OMG! And the Ducks too!” Comments from last year. And then Nedeljkovic blew up and fell apart in December and has yet to recover.

Are the Oilers the most overrated team in the league? Or are they not even overrated because no one really thinks they’re overall a good team?

I said I thought they could win the cup this year. And while it wouldn’t be shocking if they did, just based on the numbers those two put up in barely even three rounds last year, I just think they’ve got a ways to go for a cup.

But hey, they went to the WCF last year, but they were swept and massively outplayed. Even with a decent goaltending performance for them and a mediocre one for Colorado they still got crushed and heavily outplayed in almost every game, due to how mediocre their team is outside of those two guys. The shot disparity in some of those games was crazy. You don’t normally see that in the third round or later of the playoffs. The 2016 Pens were doing it to the Lightning and Sharks the last two rounds that year, but it’s not all that common.

Right now the Oilers look like a favorable beg to be last year’s Vegas.

The lone team that really enters the year in that division that you think is a lock for the playoffs, but wind up actually missing in the end.

But….. they’ll probably still make it for Pacific Division reasons.

Chiarelli and Holland have both done a super shitty job there, as did the McBrainDamage, Lowe, whatever random Oilers company men they constantly had running the place.

Oilers look like shit today. Something has to be shaken up there. They were expecting to be Cup favourites but have looked pretty average. Still no depth beyond the big two.
I think too many pundits put too much stock into how far a team did in the previous season's playoffs. Since Oilers got to WCF, they think it's going to happen again, but they could have just as easily went out in the 1st round.

Second goal on Campbell was much more bad than unlucky.

The rebound was already a questionable one, possibly deflected by Ceci. Did I ever mention Ceci f***ing sucks? Have you heard that before?

Anyway, he starts making his way over to Hoboken for some reason, while the puck is on the opposite side. That’s not as much of a freak or lucky bounce as it is horrible goaltending by him.

Is there currently a more craptastic and ice cold goalie in the league than hack Campbell?

I didn’t mean to call him Hack Campbell, that was actually an auto correct. Not on purpose, but I’m just gonna leave that how it is. It certainly fits.

Looks like they made 3-2 just like that? They’re gonna really make me turn this game on?

I can only imagine it’s so I can see the Chris Kreider floater from the boards dribble past HACK Campbell in real time.

I’m getting pumped for our game . This season has been unreal and fur the first time in a long time I’m excited for every game , plan around watching our games , and actually get nervous / excited to watch . It’s time we shit kick the Caps. Sick of them . Time fir them to be irrelevant for the next 10 years as their core withers away . I am not sure why but it pisses me off when teams don’t recognize that their window to win has passed and just cannot realize that . Teams like Calgary that kicked the can down the road and sacrificed their future for 2-3 years of trying to compete then after that … they are screwed

Right before the goal I was literally replying the Oilers will tie it only to have Campbell knock another one into his own net.

The Caps have been irrelevant to me for several years now, other than Ovechkin’s race for the record.

I sort of feel the same way about Pittsburgh and I definitely feel the same way about Nashville out West.

They’re all cup winners/cup finalists/Presidents Trophy winners of yesteryear and haven’t done shit in the playoffs since those peaks. All of them are still riding on the fumes of their dominant teams and at the end of their competitive windows. The Sharks went through the same thing and are now firmly at the bottom.
