I don’t know if he’s that bad but he’s a big ol’ homer.

Brendan Burke is really good, I particularly appreciate the newish talent with announcers because it’s often a borderline job for life.
You know, I've been citing Bill Spaulding and Dano as maybe one of the larger age disparities among a PBP and color commentator in the league, but maybe I've just tuned out Butch because I forgot about him.

Bill and Dano are close to 30 years apart, after Steve and Dano and Doc and Chico being around the same age.

But Brendan Burke and Butch must be about 35-40 years apart. Butch has gotta be 75 and I doubt Brendan is even 40.

Their PBP is fantastic. Maybe they can just forget to plug in Goring's microphone and I won't have to mute their games.

He’s 38. That means they hired him when he was 32.

Burke is excellent. There is a reason why NBC and now TNT hired him for national games. Also it seems like he is in line to replace Sterling on Yankees radio whenever he passes.

Those forward lines are the equivalent of having a Lambo/Ferrari and you shop for clothes at a thrift store.

I have a secret I'd like to let everyone in on

Gallant SUCKS

Or well..... he's overrated, let's just leave it at that. He's JAG at best.

I didn't like the way Florida fired him at the time, but he's probably going to be getting jobs for a long time because of the Vegas SCF berth in their expansion year.

And everybody talks about how Torts loses his teams fast and he never lasts long. I'm pretty sure Torts average head coaching job is almost 4 years, not including the interim stint with the Rangers in 2000, which was his first ever NHL head coaching stint. I think it was like 3.75 years or something and outside of the one and done in Vancouver he's lasted I think everywhere else at least 4 years. He was with Columbus for over 5 years. He was with the Rangers for over 4 years. He was with Tampa for I think like 7-8 years? The average coaching stint is what? 3 years? Torts lasts longer than that on average, but has this false reputation for having a short shelf life.

The coach that really seems to be a quick out is Gallant. I don't think he's lasted more than 2.5 years as a head coach. He didn't make 200 games in either of the first two places he coached in Columbus or Florida and he only made it 213 regular season games in Vegas.

He's overrated, I'm glad we didn't hire him and it's probably saved ownership money (not that I'm concerned with saving them money) in the process.

Ryan Reaves would be here today if we hired him. He's a dinosaur that seems to favor ''Grit'' and ''Physicality'' more than skill and possession.

I agree, he would've traded Bratt for Reaves or some muscle if he got hired here. I've always said that Ruff was the perfect placeholder for this team and wanting him to be fired would've been best when the Devils wanted to make that jump but Gallant in 2020 would've been an absolutely brutal hire for us with our youth.

Kakko absolutely blows chunks and tremendous back-check by future NJ Devil Timo Meier.

Burke is probably low key my favorite current PBP guy.

The last time I watched the Islanders it had a classic Goring moment.

Cizikas got 2 minutes for Goalie Interference after he ran straight into a goalie. Goring suddenly decided you could do that if the goalie wasn’t completely in the crease (he was partially out of it, not that it matters).

There was a long break in the action, so Goring bitched forever and ever about Cizikas getting even 2 minutes.

Burke then suggested it was Interference because Cizikas made no attempt to avoid the goalie.

Goring simply went silent for a second or two and then immediately went back to his same rant, completely ignoring Burke’s correct observation.

The Chaser: After Goring’s bitching forever that Cizikas shouldn’t have gotten 2 minutes he also got suspended for 2 games. What a goof.

Still isn't as funny as when Chico went on and on for two minutes being flabbergasted why John Madden wasn't on the ice to kill a particular penalty until Doc gently brought the hammer down

Chico: 'I don't know if he clipped a skate or what the problem is'

Doc: 'The problem will be alleviated as Madden comes out of the box now'

Chico: <chuckles>...'oh yeah'

Tort’s rep about being a guy who burns out fast is entirely because of him trying to fight the Calgary dressing room while in Vancouver.

That was his only short term job in the NHL.

I mean, he was the Rangers interim coach back in like 2000 for like 10 or 12 games or something like that, but that doesn't really count. He had never been a head coach in the NHL before that and he wasn't really supposed to be anything more than a season finishing interim.

Do they still call the Islanders 4th line the ''Identity Line''?

That name is so cringy, caveman, makes me wish I was 30 years younger.

That name makes me wanna ban fighting, ban hitting and build everything spread sheets.

Holy f***, that name is so cringy. I HATE it.

The Sharks are a f***ing joke.

I’m insulted as a fan that their ownership and management gaslighted the fans into thinking they’re trying to compete.

You can’t compete for anything but Bedard like this.

They take the fans as stupid imbeciles telling them they can compete with this shit.

I didn’t even know Shesterkin was in net. Play has hardly been in their end.

They should have just sat him and played Halak tonight, since they seem to wanna play Halak and rest Shesterkin fairly often.

Although, he got a decent amount of rest in this game. It’s a glorified practice for him.

“well we didn’t do that bad. We only lost 1-0 to a conference finalist from last year”

Tell everyone to just embrace the tank or f*** yourselves.

Vlasic is seriously one of the worst defensemen, if not one of the worst players in the entire league. He’s been so bad for about 6 years now that his entire career is cheapened because of it and just about cancels out how good he once was, and if he doesn’t just retire after this year then he’ll seriously be more bad in his career than good by the time it’s over.
