I hate Crosby but it’s a little love/hate.
I hate him 90% of the time but love him when he plays for team Canada .
This is why you dress someone like Geertsen.
You never know when you'll need a forward to cover as your 4th defenseman. It helps when you already have a defenseman trying to play as a forward.

Maybe now that it has burned a high profile guy like the NHL cover star, the league may actually do something about it. Probably not until the offseason though.

it’s annoying but i’d say the offside the other night was fair - if boqvist wasn’t offside he probably wouldn’t have been able to tip the puck past the defender which led to all that possession time. but i didn’t see what happened on this one, there are definitely plenty of bs calls that hurt teams for no reason
Reviewing offside 20 seconds earlier sucks, but really what are you supposed to do. The rule is what it is.
The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't just review things like icing. it feels like a dozen times already this year that I've seen a forechecker even or ahead of the defender and it's called icing anyway. You shouldn't have to give up a goal against to be able to correct other bad decisions.

Sadly it might take a high profile goal being disallowed for the league to expedite it. I forget how quickly they yanked the 'skate in the crease' rule after Brett Hull scored the Cup winning goal in 1999.

The rule is right by the letter of the law right now but it wasn't made for this, coaches are just abusing it when they knew what the rule was made for. Granted, if it was something with the Devils we'd want our coaches to challenge the same shit so it's a tough thing
it could be amended a bit, as could the kicking rule. I get why the latter exists, they don't want guys with knives on their feet swinging them around. That said, I think both the Hischier and Shara SHGs that were waived off were more deflections and neither occurred with a player anywhere close to them. The presumption for both should be a good goal and only if the offsides was part of the play (even indirectly) or if the redirection created a safety hazard should the goal be waived off. I'd go even further and if a player redirects the puck in such a way as to create a health and safety hazard I'd add a minor penalty to the review to keep the spirit of the rule applicable and give the players something to think about when deciding how to approach that play. Just my thoughts.

Offsides is designed to prevent a dude from cherry picking all game. It is absolutely possible to write a rule that discourages that but doesn't get goals called back because of meaningless transgressions 30 seconds before.
I understand the play is "called correctly" but the fact that what we saw is correct is the entire problem.

Preds are once again getting demolished .
Losing 5-1 in the second period.
Baldy Hynes HAS TO be on the hot seat. They are playing like dog shit. Their team is nit very good but they have high expectations this season. I never understood why most media outlets had them pegged for a playoff spot in the west.
Avs have 36 shots and it’s in the 2nd….
Maxkinnon with 9 shots on net so far …..
Coyotes 3-0 on road trip and a 6-6-1 record .
Way better than I thought they would be.
We will need to play a solid 60 minutes agaimst them. There are literally zero easy points in the league this year. Even the shit teams play hard and if you don’t match their effort , you can lose on any given night.
Campbell let it 7 goals tonight. Thank god Fitz didn’t sign him. Way too small of a sample size on him. He is way too inconsistent and cannot be counted on as a starter.
