Might be a turning point. Just in the wrong direction.

I doubt Sutter is going to let then sulk about it for tomorrow's game, but you got to figure confidence is quite low in that locker room
Fortunately for us, it will be a back-to-back so tired-legs will become a thing.

Devils HAVE TO SCORE, though.

And VV CANNOT give up the first goal.

Oh man, Markstrom isn't even gonna get the softy of the night. Trent Frederic had a really sweet one on Binnington.

By the way, to say Binnington is overrated is just false, because nobody actually thinks he's really any good anymore. His contract STINKS and he's basically just been above average at best for a lot of his career, other than his rookie season. Last year was a doozy and early returns on this season are yet another doozy coming up.

The only misnomer about him is that he was ''Really good on the Blues road in winning the cup''. He was really not good, he had one of the worst GSAA's among cup winning starting goalies in the last couple decades. Not as low as the Francouz/Kuemper combo last year or god forbid 2009 Fleury, but definitely worse than 2014 Quick, as well as 2010 Niemi, who people still talk about as one of the ''Weakest cup runs for a goalie ever''.

No, it was not, 2014 Binnington (as well as a few others) were definitely worse.

Binnington's 2019 regular season was GREAT and might have saved the team's seasons, who were dying out there with Jake Allen as the starter, but he was of little thanks in the playoffs that year.

He wasn't awful or even particularly BAD, but he was below average.

I mean, I like what Treliving did in getting aggressive and replacing the two guys that left (even though one of the acquisitions was part of the trade for one of the guys that wanted out), but they got 3 years older with each of their replacements.
These days teams play younger players if they have them rather than fill out their roster with older randos. The Flames have prospects who have been breaking rocks in the AHL for a while.

Sutter is definitely old school and way more rookie adverse than other coaches (even other older ones who have adapted).

A Calgary fan quoted him discussing his “younger players” and they were neither particularly young or inexperienced, unless you idea of the average NHL is a 30 year old.

They definitely lost a game they should have won. (A typical Isles’ win lol.) Even Connor Mackey had a statistically good game and I didn’t think that was possible.

And he's pretty much no-count.

Don't get me wrong, he doesn't get to play a whole lot and be able to get in a rhythm, but he's probably nothing special.

Even when Markstrom had that season last year (which is almost assuredly a career year) he was just whatever in his very limited games played.

That was a very last year’s Rangers win

The Isles’ PP is terrible though lol. They just do “desperation time rush at the net and hope you score” really well.

The one thing you can’t do these days is try to sit on a lead, teams just go at you too hard.

I’m not sure what will happen with the Isles this year. Maybe they iron out the other issues and get better all around. They’re getting points now though and their schedule is pillow soft for while.

They’re definitely hanging in there more than I thought they would after how bad they looked when we completely demolished them.

Calgary actively makes itself older by not playing anyone drafted after 2017. The Isles have some younger players on their team.

Hilariously true, right before puck drop the Isles crew highlighted a guy on Flames making his NHL debut and I thought wow the Flames actually putting some kids in the lineup. It was a 27 year old career AHL‘er 😂. Flames are almost as bad as the rags with developing kids.

The top pairing on defense and the goaltending are superb. The defensive corps is deep and very good as a group. They seem to be playing hard at the moment and may have just enough scoring and structured system play to hang on the bubble. They are deep at center. Pageau may be slow but is solid and Barzal and Cziskis are both good, Barzal very much. But I don’t see them making the playoffs. Tomorrow nights game with the Rangers should be interesting.

Someone did this search on the Calgary board lol.

They might have one if they got a hockey player to play defense instead of an actor to play one.

Are you kidding me … Isles tied it ? They were getting destroyed and looked like they couldn’t get out if their own end last time I was watching …Great . Isles get at least a point and Flames will be in almost must win mode
I don't give a s--t.

Devils were hanging on by a thread up in Calgary.

Devils will be the more fresh team, have the last change, and will play MUCH BETTER
