It isn’t a “being allowed to” thing. Keefe is Dubas’ guys. He’s literally the only coach Dubas has hired going back to when Dubas ran junior teams. He is. It going to want to fire Keefe. So it will be a situation where if there is a coaching change it will be a GMband coach going at the same time.Dubas might be allowed to pull the trigger on a Keefe firing and make it to the end of the season, but they probably won't let him hire a guy that's gonna get signed for 3-4 years. I doubt they'll let him hire somebody that they have to give term to, unless Shanny really likes that person too.
So it would probably be one of the assistants coming in as the interim head coach for the rest of the season or whoever their AHL head coach is.
Wow, I'm so shocked the Rangers beat the Sucks I mean the Ducks.
Hand them the cup, plan the parade.
I heard if we beat them tomorrow we do get a playoff berth.
Don't get me wrong I think it'd be pretty unlikely...I said in another thread that they'd probably have to get off to a 2-7-1 start or something like that for it to even be on the table by November. It's just hilarious that after I posted that, hours later they go and lose to Arizona like a week after they already lost to Montreal.
Ok, You’re crazy.Call me crazy, but I still think they can be a playoff team in that division.
Edmonton and Calgary are definitely playoff teams and early returns on Vegas are looking good. Maybe those are the only 3 and 5 come out of the central?
Then again, maybe I am crazy thinking Jim Benning's damage can be undone that quickly.
Partly that's the difference between being in a market where every game gets playoff-like coverage, and a market where basically it took Lindy three years to hear his first semi-tough question from Ryan at the Ledger.Incredible that a coach like Boudreau can be on the hot seat with not even a full season under his belt with the team. But we just had to hang on to Ruff this off-season for…reasons?

LA was my dark horse last season. I really like the way the team is built but their coach and quite frankly, the organization is having a tough time developing their top prospects. From what I've heard, Turcotte doesn't even get PP time in the AHL, lol. Kaliyev looks ready to break out, so lets give him 4 minutes a night. Kind of the same deal with Vilardi.Ok, You’re crazy.
Who knows, it’s a clown show division and the Kings have had their own struggles.
I still like LA over Van, even though it’s been reported here (on occasion) that the Kings coach is, IIRC, “a f***ing loser”.
Canes rolling along, our old friend Stefan Noesen playing for them tonight and has an assist.
Early softy of the year?
Gustavsson tonight is probably the worst game I’ve seen a goalie play this season so far. Grubauer’s first game was pretty bad too. No matter how I or anybody else feels about Cam Talbot, Ottawa did good with that trade. Minnesota struck out big time with that trade, because Gustavsson has never been an NHL regular and has played poorly whenever he’s been in the NHL for the Sens and has looked even worse in the 1.5 games he’s played for Minnesota. So basically they have a goalie that’s about 90 years old and a career AHL/euro league guy over there.Calibre of goaltending league wide has been on a downward trend for a while now.
There are some really horrible goalies out there. Are kids not wanting to play the position???
Obviously you have the Russian contingent that seem to be so far ahead of everyone else, it's not even funny.
Florida almost certainly got worse this year. But, I think they did the right thing. Huberdeau and Weegar are getting older and needed big contracts. If you don't think you can win in the next couple of years with them as your core, trading them now for a younger core piece seems smart. Next year, Huberdeau and Weegar are nearly $17 million in cap hit while Tkachuck is $9.5 million. This buys them some time to solve the Bob contract and (IMO) shifts their window a bit.Watched the Bruins-Panthers game tonight and here are my takeaways.
Pasta is scary good, Bergeron still has it, and their window isn't entirely closed yet. Pavel is still useless even on that line. It's a damn shame we let Greer leave this organization. Ullmark is a pretty big question mark.
Florida is going to regret that Tkachuk trade sooner rather than later. Bobs doing Bobs things that are usually reserved for the postseason.
Fun game to watch overall though.
I think Florida shit the bed on the Tkachuk trade. Yes it gives them more cap flexibility next year on, but they made their team worse for now and who is to say that they will use the extra cap wisely ? Or that anyone worth while will be available ? Why trade two very good players for on “good” player and then a uncertainty in finding someone better than Wegar or Huberdeau. Plus giving up a decent prospect and a 1st round pick?Florida almost certainly got worse this year. But, I think they did the right thing. Really, I could see Florida being a destination for Severson or Graves next year.
My guess is that FLA figured paying one guy who is younger a UFA deal is better than paying two older guys UFA deals?I,th

Florida screwed up in my opinion. Tkachuk has shown he is nothing special in the playoffs… I thunk florida thinks that he will be some beast in the playoffs. They over-reacted to losing in the playoffs.
They made some all-in moves at the TDL and pissed their future away , then go and trade two studs to get future cap space down the road? Weird .Some moves that show they are all in in the short term , then make a long term move ?
I honestly think there is more to it with Huberdeau and Weegar. They are best buds. It was rumored Hunerdeau loves his strip clubs and has been seen in them night before games etc.
