ONE person....ONE....attacked him.

It's not like every Rags fan jumped him like they were a gang.

Everyone else just stood there in shock (with a few nimrods laughing at the victim getting KO'd but a few other good samaritans helping the guy) at what that nitwit just did in front of 20000 witnesses.

And anyway, as far as drunk fans go, visiting fans have access to booze, too, you know?

Maybe MSG should stop selling it perhaps?

Yeah, it only takes one though.

And I'm sure the Tampa fan was boozed up too.

Not sure what you're trying to get at.

Did you see my last statement regarding the selling of booze?

That's what I was getting at.

I think if both were Sober, maybe a couple of middle-fingers and F.U.'s would've been the most that would've happened.

I meant by calling out it was just one person. Came across as if I were painting the Rangers fanbase one way.

As for selling booze, yeah that would certainly cut down on a vast majority of this stuff but will never happen. I think they do stop selling after a certain point though, but again...doesn't really do much. People just load up while they can.

If they didn't sell booze people would just bring in plastic flasks(a lot already do) and pre-game even more before the game.

Yeah I kind of was trying to go somewhere with that "ONE Person" thing and just got lost in the wilderness.

The Booze thing got me back on track, though. lol

Yeah...People do adapt to situations where they find a way to get what they want.

Have you ever been to a bar or nightclub?

Ejection for being too intoxicated isn't exactly a foreign concept.

But again, it f***s with the revenue stream too much so the owners will never enact such a policy.

Hell, I've seen drunk ass Devils fans at the rock get into shit. Do you know what security usually does so long as it's not too egregious? Move them to another section and apologize.

Regardless of what fans do before the game or sneaking in airplane bottles, you don't have to have bud light and captain morgan promos everywhere while selling as much of it as you can.

The owners and our politicians already know this though, hence the 1/4 hearted end of sales after the 2nd, 7th, and halftime.

Except that's exactly what you're doing.

I've worn the red and the black numerous times at the toilet and have no intentions on stopping. Can it be unpleasant? Sure. But not to that level.

I think we can all agree that the sucker punch was disgusting and the guy that threw it is 100% at fault in this situation. People should absolutely be able to rock opposing team jerseys in arenas without having to worry about something like this happening and even have a little back and forth banter with opposing fans without it escalating to physical violence.

However, we know that stuff like this happens on rare occasions. People get drunk, emotions run high and you probably have a few assholes sprinkled in to the crowd of 20K fans. Doesn't excuse it, but that's the reality. I personally choose to minimize the chances of something like this happening to myself and will tell my kids the same thing when they get older (just like my dad warned me about wearing opposing team's gear in Philly when I was younger). I'm not trying to tell you or anyone else what to do or not to do when you attend games though and I'm sure the chances of something like this happening to you are miniscule.

Disgusting assault. Hope they arrested this guy and the Tampa fan is OK.

That being said (and I'm surely not looking to victim blame here), what the hell was the Tampa fan thinking exactly? You're in enemy territory surrounded by angry, drunk fans from the opposing team. This type of thing absolutely should never happen in a civilized society, but we all know there's always that risk.

Personally, I wouldn't even be rocking a Tampa jersey myself in that situation. If I did, I probably would wait for the crowd to clear out before leaving, especially since Rangers fans were all amped up seeing their team blow a pivotal game with less than 2 minutes left and watching a couple of their players getting their asses beat after the final horn sounded. And if I was walking out in that hostile crowd like that, I wouldn't be engaging in any back and forth banter and I would sure as hell have my head on a swivel.

What was the Tampa fan doing exactly? I didn't see or hear him taunting or being a jerk. I could be wrong but he was just sort of walking. Don't think he was saying anything. Maybe he did beforehand but who knows. Of course the guy who did it looks exactly like the kind who would. Some meathead idiot in sweatpants from Seaside Heights

Have to admit though I chuckled a bit when the Rags goal horn played after one of the bystanders said he's dead

We don't really know.

What we do know is that there was some type of interaction going on between that Tampa fan and Rangers fans to the point that someone decided to start recording it on their cell phone.

A few assholes 😂

It's not that rare in philthy unfortunately, and your father sounds like a reasonable guy. I refuse to attend any games in that city as they're notorious for their savagery.

Midtown Manhattan or Newark however, this shouldn't happen.

Btw, you're still victim blaming.

Video Shows Horrible Sucker Punch After Lightning-Rangers Game

After the Tampa Bay Lightning took down the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, a concerning incident occurred on the MSG concourse.

A fan wearing a Rangers shirt sucker punched a fan wearing a Lightning jersey, leaving him unconscious for several moments as he was attended to by arena security and passersby.

The Rangers fan, who police identified as 29-year-old James Anastasio, tried to run away after the sucker punch. When a witness tried to stop him, Anastasio punched him in the face as well, per CBS Tampa Bay.

Police eventually arrested Anastasio and charged him with assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

The man who was knocked unconscious is stable, per NYPD

I don't go to Ranger-Devil games anymore, because of this. Not because I'm worried of getting hit. Because I get so heated, for a stupid hockey game. One time I thought about getting into a fight.... its not worth it.

Still won't go. I can't help it, i just get to into the atmosphere.

I can't believe the one guy claiming the guy went code red and that his brother works at the hospital he was brought into.

What a sick troll. Unless it was his brother that trolled him.

Either way, someone really being a sickening troll.

Welcome to the Internet in 2022

But yeah it’s good the guy is apparently okay. If anyone made a dumb choice of attire wearing it was that Ranger fan…kinda easier to get yourself picked out of a crowd in a RED shirt as opposed to blue lol

Jesus Christ.

I hope that guy gets convicted of something above a misdemeanor. You are actually resorting to violence over the results of a hockey game? Of course the idiots in the crowd make me embarrassed to be a member of the same species. I'm amazed we haven't blown ourselves up with all the nuclear weapons. People are pretty terrible.

I actually prefer to go those games in the city and avoid them at all costs in Newark.

At least I know what I'm getting myself in to.

40% rags fans at home (though this will change once we're competitive) just annoys me and ruins the experience.

If/When they meet in the playoffs again, i'll go. I hear you about going into the city. Somehow that is easier to handle. almost ironic. They're just more obnoxious in Newark.

Yup. I chalk it up to those ones being unable to afford the garden and living this odd existence somewhere in Morris or Somerset.

But yes, I will attend every playoff game when we meet again. Different animal.

Hopefully Gallant remembers how much he loves Ryan Reaves and dat grit and puts him back in for next game.

Braun, Reaves, Rooney, Schneider, all just terrible craters of suck.

I bet if you read those last two names you might think you were reading a 2-3 year old post about the Devils!:sarcasm:

I feel that way too. They're at their most disrespectful and arrogant and go overboard trying to be seen/heard. I do not find visiting Islander fans to be in any way like that

The 2008 playoffs was an absolute nightmare. 1st year at the new arena and we get ousted on our home ice by the Rags. Brodeur was pretty terrible and we couldn't get a puck past Lundpads. That was probably the angriest I've ever been leaving a game (2009 Carolina was shellshock and numbness. It was like thousands of people just witnesses some horrible atrocity, were spared, and now have to go home and live with it the rest of their lives
