I'm with you on this 100%. JAD has spent enough time in the AHL and we know exactly what kind of player he is. I think he's a perfect fit for that line. I'm also okay with putting Kaliyev on the top line, but I worry that he may not be a good fit with Kempe and Kopitar. As long as he can get to the open spots on the ice, he will have a chance to score.

What are you going to do with Turcotte, Fagemo, Kupari and AA?
AA isn’t coming back
Turcotte will probably displace one of Moore or Arvy .. Moore is turning into a value piece either trade or resign.. Arvy is also a placeholder
Kupari/Fagemo might be trade bait

Yeah, AA will be gone. He's contributed but I think the plan for him was a short-term solution so teams could see he's still productive and then part ways. Arvidsson has two years after this, so a placeholder but in a longer-term sense. He's always an option to re-sign if none of the young guys step up. I would use insurance policy as a good description for him.

Right now, outside of a major step in their games, I don't see any way that Kupari or Fagemo stick around.

With Moore, it really depends on what he gets offered as a UFA. Right now he's a good extension target, if they want to retain him the sooner the better. More risk/reward that way though.

I still think Fagemo has legit skill and skating. He has a chance to be that elusive offensive winger. Dude can snipe.

Kupari/Turcotte/JAD are fighting for a center spot likely locked up by Lizotte. So do they have a future on the wing? Ahead of Vilardi?

Some of these guys need to be moved even if the Kings play the long game with bringing them in.

Moore has one more year on his contract, so no concerns right now about UFA status. But, if he continues his progress, he’s due for a significant salary increase.

Moore is living the dream, playing for his hometown team. I love that. Now that he's delivering for his team, I think he's a keeper.

Fagemo has skating and low hockey IQ.
He is 90% of the time using slap shot without even knowing where pack will go.
If he was using wrist shot instead he will be much better player.
In my view Kupari is much better player.

Did you guys touch on them moving JAD to the LW? Played with Tynan and Frk

"On how he is feeling, currently playing left wing
Feeling pretty good, it’s a little bit of an adjustment but I’ve played there a little bit before so it’s just almost less work in the defensive zone so it allows me to have a burst of speed coming up the ice so I’ve been trying to focus on that and it’s been pretty seamless, especially when I’ve been playing with the guys I’m playing with."

REIGN FINAL – Reign 8, Barracuda 5 – Hajt, Anderson-Dolan, Fagemo - LA Kings Insider

I just posted a comment in another thread stating that the Kings love centermen with the versatility to play the wing.. Vilardi and Turcotte and Carter and Toffoli before that

JAD is good enough two-way to be a depth winger, he's that swiss army knife that could PK and take faceoffs if lizotte gets kicked but will still provide sufficient offense too

I cant remember an example of a player who had a good start of his NHL career (Vilardi) and more than solid 16G 35P pace in his first full season that got demoted to the AHL after 7 games the year after.

Unbelievable he is still stuck there and some want him to finish there too.

This kinda reminds me of how LA treated Boyle who still is in this league and we traded for a mid round pick.

I don't either with the Kings, but I do know Vilardi is kind of a special case with how long he was out rehabbing. He looked gassed those first 7 games he was up, whether he was or not.

The Oilers kind of did this with Puljujarvi and Draisaitl, even though neither were quite on the pace Gabe was. Both definitely benefitted from that. It was also beneficial for Kunin in Minnesota. Necas looked great in his short stint with Carolina when he first came in, they sent him down for a year and he looked even better when he came back. I think Chicago should have sent Dach down, but they didn't and now he's struggling.

On the other hand, the Ducks did this exact thing with Steel, and I feel it backfired. There are other examples where sending guys down probably wasn't the best move either. It just varies from player to player. Time will tell with Gabe, but he's looking pretty damn good right now.

i do think the trigger was pretty quick this season(same goes for tkachev) but i'm gonna give a bit right now, seeing as how this seems to be all about the winger transition.. i'm assuming he did things with the big club at center that they don't want him doing, so this was really a full blown "we're converting you" demotion that i think must be ending at some point given his production

really, really hope there's some method to this madness, maybe keeping kids down but giving them tastes in preparation for letting a few kings forwards walk next season? dunno

Vilardi is better suited on the wing, his best seasons in juniors were on the wing not at center… He’s that big power forward we’ve been missing and drooling over

Productive minutes on a quality AHL team are infinitely more valuable than poorly-deployed single-digit minutes coupled with frequent scratches.

Until the coaching staff changes it’s ways, we cut some fat off the forward group to make room, or some combination of the two, Gabe is in the best place for his development.

Vitali Yachmenev and Pavel Rosa

I don't think the Kings believe that Vilardi can skate well enough to be a scoring line player in the NHL or else they'd have him up playing rather than giving shots to guys who have provided almost no offense like Kupari, Turcotte and Brown.

Gabe could have been a Jason Allison type player a generation ago, but I don't even know how effective Allison would be in today's NHL. He would have put up some offense but there are to many elite skaters in the league now.

Kupari, and probably a D man or two after tonight's Kings game will likely be going directly from Detroit to Grand Rapids MI where the Reign play on Friday and Saturday, before coming back home. Kings want Kupari to get in some playing time during the Kings two-week break, and the Reign are short handed on D.

It could also be that they want to see him skate on the wing consistently and see if it's something he can adapt to. If anything keeping him down indicates that they see a future for him, the players who bounce up and down quickly are usually the ones that end up being shipped off. Also the guys who are spending large amounts of time on and off the taxi squad are the ones that are likely though of as more expendable.

I had no idea the Reign were coming this far east. In the years passed I feel like they never came to any of the AHL markets I lived near, whether it was Chicago, Rockford, Grand Rapids or Milwaukee. I also see the Griffins play in Ontario, is this some kind of home and home inter-division thing? Seems very odd to fly a minor league team that far for two games.

I may have to go check out one of the games, was hoping to see Clarke in Soo last week and the Kings tonight, but Justin Trudeau and Mother Nature had other ideas.

They used to play against at least a couple of Central Division teams every year until Covid. Grand Rapids is the only home and home series opponents from the Central Division this season I believe.

Kupari should have been sent down a while back. Glad he's finally going to start playing again.

Do you guys think QB gets sent back down for the duration of the break? I think he'd be best served playing for the next 2 weeks.

JAD-Tynan-Frk
Vilardi-Turcotte-Fagemo
Tkachev-Thomas-Madden
Wagner-Sutter-Dudas

That's how they lined up last game... now slot Kupari into that.

It's.... it's a lot of guys.
