My hot take is that Athanasiou is on his way to getting traded at or before the deadline. The Kings did him a big favor, but the one year deal meant he has an expiration date. If he can fetch a pick then do it.

if Vilardi forces his way into the Kings roster with some offensive domination at the AHL level, I think he slots right next to Byfield and Brown. That’s a heavy third line that can cause match up problems. It could also be a defensive double edged sword.

Seems unlikely the Kings will trade AA if they are in the thick of the playoff race unless it's to add someone else. Kings would be buyers, not sellers. If AA's game falls off a cliff like it did late last season, maybe that changes the scenario. Teams need all the depth they can get going into the playoffs, guys the Kings would normally move like AA and Maatta will probably see the end of the season with us, short of the Kings tanking before the trade deadline.

AA has to be out there with a specific type of linemates to be fully effective. He generates chaos and does it really effectively. You put him with a couple fast, high energy bangers and he's a nightmare. Playing a controlled structured game neuters him. He would thrive on a line with someone like Brown of a few years ago.

He still produces, but he's not ideal for a line with a rookie learning on the job. He'd probably do decent with Arvidsson, but we have lots of options there.

Which would be fine with a coach who isn't a carrot, given two of the other three lines are centered by a Selke candidate.

Vilardi just took an open ice hit and left the game.

Nvm, he's back

Turcotte just got blasted... kids better keep their heads up. SJ has been humiliated by ONT all season and they're upping the physical play

Total Bullsh** call. Turcotte gets blasted with what looks more like an interference penalty on the Barracuda player then Fagemo comes over to check the Barracuda player and dude just starts bombing on Fagemo. He didn't even drop his glove. Out of all that Fagemo gets the extra two. AHL refs for ya.

Not one to complain about reffing, but after Turcotte got blasted, Fagemo went in to hit the Barracuda. The Barracuda player threw his gloves down and started swinging.

Fagemo got 2 for roughing and 5 for fighting, despite not throwing the gloves or a punch. The Barracuda got just 5 for fighting.

Turcotte comes back with a great tip. Good to see him get back up and score a goal.

2 point night for huge glans?

Yep two for glands

I wish people would adjust expectations for Turc and realize he's gonna get greasy points like Richards not finesse points

Can't wait for just a little more strength from him so he can do what he wants to grown men the way he did to his peers, think Richards on the wall, he won't win every battle but the guy that leaves is taking a licking.

Vilardi, Turcotte, Spence, JAD and Parik looks great.
Fagemo not so much...

Some of it is hangover from going back down, and some of it is re-adjusting to AHL play. I was pretty impressed with his play when he was up, but I still think he is a prime candidate to get moved while he still has value.

I haven't really watched him since he returned, but how has Thomas looked? It is understandably going to take him some time with a double surgery like that. I had a screw put in a single shoulder close to 30 years ago and while it never gave me problems again, it took at least a year before it was as strong as it was before. He was off-ice for quite a while.

He is simply not a smart player
