I am excited to see if Fagemo can pull a Kupari and come back into the NHL looking better then his last call up. The guy can score. Pulling for him.

Looks like Akil is starting to get his groove back. Don’t write this kid off.

Almost every player the Kings have brought up for their first cup of coffee in the last 10 years or so has struggled in their short stints from the AHL. Durzi and Spence are really an anomaly, but there are still struggles, especially for Durzi recently. Martinez and Muzzin were bad during their first call-ups. Pearson looked completely lost as well.

Fagemo has goal scoring skills. Maybe he's Kempe-lite. Definitely not as fast, but he's got jump in his stride. He had a pretty good shooting % in Sweden, then had that fantastic WJC showing. Each of the last 2 seasons in Ontario his shooting % has increased, which to me says that he's learning how to get into better scoring areas and he's more often than not ready to shoot. Of course, he's got a good shot and a pretty wicked one-timer. He's just not a volume shooter anymore. He's shooting over 20% this season after shooting almost 15% last season.

I have high hopes that both Fagemo and Kaliyev can be good goal scorers for the Kings. There is room for specialists who can score goals. Not everyone has to check all the boxes to be effective in the NHL.

I might be the only person who thought Fagemo actually looked ok in his call-up. He's kinda similar to Kaliyev in that he's primarily a shooter. I thought he was able find some open areas and get off a few shots. Certainly nothing to write home about, but I didn't think he was horrible.

I agree with you. Plus it takes more than a few games and 10 to 11 minutes on a line with Kopitar to get used to his style of cycling. If you're going to be on that line with Kopi, you need to have his cycling game down and be on the same page with him. Same thing with Arty. Problem is unless you have instant chemistry you get demoted pretty quickly.

frankly I think people are confused about the kind of player he is and will always be extremely disappointed in him

he's a pretty vanilla north south shoot the puck Craig Johnson/Tanner Pearson type, maybe a few more dangles but I think people see a Swedish name and are expecting flash over substance. I think he's going to be the most aligned type of effective player, a 20-20 middle sixer.

I think so too and without putting words into anyone's mouths, I'd imagine him leading the WJCs in scoring has something to do with that. But middle sixer is what I'd hope for as well. Probably won't be a player that drives a line, but hopefully a finisher. I feel like him with Vilardi or Turcotte might be worth a look at some point in the future.

Agreed. Though I can understand sending him back down. I just remember seeing a lot of people not happy with his play while he was up. I was like, hmm I think I'm missing something here haha!

I should be surprised this is the first shutout for the Reign, but then I remember who has been in net all season.

Even so, Hrenak had some very strong stops, but he really needs to work on his puck tracking skills. One play in particular, he was looking over his left shoulder when the puck was behind the net. The puck came out on the right side, but he was still looking over the wrong shoulder.

First pro game… happy to give him the benefit of the doubt

I like Fagemo a lot. Guy will be a 2nd-3rd line player with massive upside. Can't wait for him to make it on the team.
