I know, I know.

I only get to make fun of hyperbolic myopia if I actually watch the game. Bottom-line thinking never allowed.

btw, I dominated New Year's. Ate some Christmas candy and went to bed at 11 PM. Totally crushed it.

You got called out for lazy comments and are sulking about it.

Vino offered criticism of Byfield's game in the post above. Nobody's giving him shit for it. Because "bottom line" comments about singular games are pointless.

But chances are reading his post was too much effort for you anyway.

He's... "having fun!"

even without the OT goal...you can see the size and skill of Byfield on display. Also has some nifty playmaking skills...almost connected with Frk in the 2nd. Kid is going to be a good.....very hard to matchup that combo he has.

It revisionist history to think how different The Kings would have looked had Byfield not gotten injured in preseason, but it makes the future look a tad brighter with a light at the end of a dark tunnel.

The kid might not have lit the lamp much but he was deadly in every game he played in. You could see the chances coming, the confidence in taking the puck hard to the net, and having him anchor a line to go along with the other 3 centers really help to balance out all 4 lines.

Kopitar

Ah, the ol' Kempe special! :snide:

Adrian is finally finding his game, Vilardi will do the same. Kid has such a great shot and tremendous vision, just needs to put it all together on a consistent basis.

His trajectory is similar to Jordan Kyrou(23). Maybe it will take a year longer because of lost development time with his injury. Gabe just needs to complete a full productive "development" season in AHL with possible NHL call up. The Center vs RW question needs to be addressed this year though.

IMO Vilardi is about next year. Needs to come on the big squad as a confident 23 year old.

Funny, I just posted this on Friday:

6-2 after 2 periods in the Winter Classic. -5 degree there... no thanks.

2 goals from Kyrou and 2 assists, all in the 2nd period.

Wish Vilardi was our Jordan Kyrou.

Sigh...

Both players have similar trajectories, play the game the same way (both lethal right handed shots, slower than average speed, superb puck handling down low) but also both plays a thinking man's game.

Again, most of these kids don't become NHL stars overnight. They just need to ripen on the vine either in the AHL (or in the NHL) with a little patience from us diehard fans.

I very strongly disagree with the bolded. Arguably Jordan Kyrou's best asset is his speed.

Yeah, Kyrou's scouting report in his draft year:

Jordan Kyrou is a great skater, featuring excellent speed and top-notch acceleration. Once Kyrou gets a step on a defender, he can really turn on the jets and pull away, allowing him to cut wide and still get to the net. He has excellent edge work, and agility. Kyrou can change directions on a dime and makes a wide variety of moves with the puck, allowing him to elude defenders, and find his way through offensive zone traffic. Kyrou has good power in his stride, and excellent lower-body strength that makes him difficult to knock off the puck.
