I agree with your interpretation of this. But it seems as if--not just for the Kings but for around the league--they're allowing for assignment to taxi squad and ignoring waiver rules unless they're actually slotted onto the active roster, i.e. Frk is clear unless he actually plays.

There is an entire separate set of clauses for "emergency recalls" that are new and last from now until the break.

With 5 guys on COVID and 3 guys on IR and the Kings desire to dress the full compliment of 23 players my assumption is that the recalls fit under those conditions. But only because it doesn't make sense to me otherwise HOWEVER in past instances of things not appearing to make sense there has always been some clause or condition that was unknown or murky that once explained makes everyhing slot into place.

Basically... who knows.

Vilardi is having great overall game. He is flying today.
Villalta is total garbage.

Villalta can have a Hasek type save and then be absolutely trash the next two. Lavoie's goal was soft as butter. Vilardi was gifted the first goal and his second was set up nicely by Tkachev, but I didn't think he had a great game even with the two goals. His skating will always be his downfall unfortunately. Did not think he was dangerous most of the game and had a terrible turnover in OT that led to the game winner.

I missed some of the game but didn't Vilardi play center today?

I don't put all the blame on Vilardi in OT. It looked like the puck hopped his stick so sometimes those things happen. But I do agree that he wasn't overly noticeable as maybe a 2g game would indicate. The thing with him, if he's within a 10ft radius of the net, he's dangerous. Everywhere else he seems to struggle with one exception... zone entry. When he wants to, he can dangle guys hard.

Terrible turnover? Didn't they ring a shot off the bar after a breakaway and the rebound was so big it sent the other team on a breakaway the other way?

Maybe turnover was the wrong word of choice and yes Frk's bomb did ring off the post and went towards Vilardi. However if you look at the replay he had a good chance at stopping the puck as it didn't seem to go around the boards too fast, but I guess as WhatTheFox mentioned above it may have jumped over his stick. As soon as it went past Vilardi I knew Villalta was not going to stop that breakaway.

Reign Assistant Coach Chris Hajt:
On the play of Gabriel Vilardi who scored twice
You know what, he took charge tonight. He was obviously very good with the puck, was able to get pucks through traffic and handle them but he used his body better and he was definitely skating well so definitely an impact player for us tonight.

Lavoie's goal was soft as butter, because Villalta glove hand is horrible.
Also, he does not know how to select correct position and cut angles.
I know Kings have good goalie development system but to me Villalta is well beyond repair.

This was Vilardi's 10th game in Ontario and in my mind his best game. His skating was okei+ and he was defensively vastly better than earlier. Still he doesn't compete hard enough, but this game was promising. If he plays five games in row same way, then I start to belive and love him again.

Vilardi should have spent two full AHL seasons it would have served his game the best. I know with covid and injuries this would have been difficult for him but the Kings should not have stunted his development by trying to push him to the NHL so quickly.

They are messing with Vilardi the same way they did with Kempe. Center? Winger? They have 2.5 years until Kopi's contract is up hopefully they\he can figure it out before then. Still hoping for a Byfield-Vilardi-Danault lineup, it would just make the other prospects slot into their roles better.

Accoreding to Lisa Dillman Vilardi will most likely not be part of the organization next year. Probably formed that opinion from talking with people within, but who knows.

Also, I hope shes wrong, I mean just look at my name. Would be pretty upset if we gave up on the kid that soon. He does have some hurdles to get over though, especially mentally it seems.
