It's Goligoski. There's your answer.

That's what I figured, but some of the hate on Goose is pretty dumb.

He makes some boneheaded plays, but not nearly as many as most of our other defenseman, and they don't bring a fraction of the offense that he does.

Anybody thinking that Benn or Connauton or Jokipakka or anybody besides Daley (and Dillon some games) is playing better than Goligoski is mistaken, IMO.

I don't think anyone except Daly is playing better than him and even that is debatable. The problem is that statement is true.

I can still forgive Goligoski. Daley has been one of the better players IMO.

Jordie and Dillon are the real concern. How could they be THIS bad lol

Well, you're half right. Jordie has been pretty bad. Dillon on the other hand has been our best defensive defenseman, hence why they're paired together by the mad scientist that is 14-15 Lindy Ruff. For example- When Dillon is away from Jordie, the team is averaging about 24 shot attempts towards the bad guys' net per 20 minutes, while giving up about 19 towards Kari or Dr. Sieve (55.4% for, in other words). Jordie without Dills, on the other hand, is at 16 attempts for, and 21 against per 20, which gives a super spooky 43.5%. Fun times.

EDIT: Here's my source, do you guys like spreadsheets

Really want to see Benn/Seguin/Spezza/Daley/Klingberg as the #1 PP unit. 3 forwards. 2 defensemen. 3 right shots. 2 left shots. What a concept.

And don't go through the whole "earn his PP icetime and focus on defense first" BS. Put the player in the best position to succeed and help the team.

Daley has learned how to be useful on the PP but he's still not that dangerous shot from up top they so sorely lack.

And really at this point I couldn't care less about the 2nd unit. Just make the top unit be a threat and play ~75% of the PP.

Ruff talked this morning about putting Klingberg on the 1st or 2nd PP unit.

Seguin-Roussel-Benn
Klingberg-Daley

Hemsky-Eakin-Sceviour
Spezza-Goligoski

That's what I'd like us to roll..

They certainly do. I posted before seeing above post. But does Spezza on PP2 sound like something Ruff would do?

I hope so. Honestly, he seems really high on Roussel right now, even defending his play late last game, so we'll see. Not like our PP was clicking before they put him on it.

Bump for 2015. Razor had it right on the post-game last night. A team with the weapons this team has can't be in the bottom 3rd of the league on the PP.

Everyone on the 2nd unit has 1 or fewer PP points which tells me that the 2nd unit has probably only scored 1 or 2 goals this entire ****ing season. And yet for some reason there haven't been any changes made to the PP units. It's not like the 1st unit is scoring enough for there to be an excuse for the ****tiness of the 2nd unit. Both units suck. The 1st unit just happens to overcome the suck through sheer talent sometimes.

The PP% is absolutely unacceptable. We're sitting at 14.9% right now. The PK is 21st in the league--freaking Edmonton is ahead of us.

It's becoming more and more obvious that the special teams staff needs an overhaul. How the hell can a unit of Benn-Seguin-Spezza not produce at a better pace?

cant believe klingberg isnt on pp, hes the only d that can get a shot through to goal

He gets token minutes on the second unit... Daley needs to get off the top unit.

all daley does is rush in 1 out of 36 times on the pp and score off of a rebound---yay

klingberg actually passes to the tape and or gets it on net

Media members take note. This is why you don't come up with cocky nicknames for a PP that was 16% last season. With the addition of Spezza (and Hemsky lol) we have actually taken a step back this year. Cut Klingberg's ES minutes if they are really concerned about him taking too much responsibility but the fact that he's not on the top unit is a ****ing joke.

How many right shots do we have on each unit? If Spezza is on the point there isn't room for Klingberg. And as I've said before, we don't need Klingberg to develop into a pp guy, we need him to develop into a defenseman, which means ES reps not PP time.
