In soccer, FIFA pays compensation for long term injuries sustained during international play. And clubs get money for their players participating in the World Cup (amount depends on number of players and number of games they play). Couldn't they do something similar? Of course with the IOC it would be the problem of other sports wanting similar treatment, so it should be the IIHF. But they probably don't have enough money.

Easy. Sweden.

I want Hags and Hank to play well, but I also want them to come back to NY and rest. I also like what Finland has done this tournament. I guess it is a good thing when either result is acceptable, unlike the later game.

Getting anxious already!

I don`t like Finland. It`s an ugly language with ugly people. When I go on vacation to sunnier parts of Europe, the pale Finns always try to wreck it with their heavy drinking and shouting(in their awful language). And they also invented Minttu, the shot from hell.

Either way, it`s gonna be a great game. This is the two neighbors going head to head.

Remember, the NHL knows about the risk when accepting to play in the olympics. They already get a huge amout of money for participating. And as long as they let the player participate, IMO they have to take this risk.

The money they demand and all other costs and "special treatment" they recieve cost som much for the IOC that people in the committee have stated that they feel that the NHL´s demands are unreasonable. But they still accept it because the know how much it means for the games to have the NHL players participating.

Come back to NY and rest? No matter what, they have another game after today.

Let's go Sweden!

NBC is getting obsessed with Finland having to get in front of Hank. They take one storyline and run with it for two and a half hours.

Sweden carrying the play but Finland gets the best chances. Lundqvist seems sharp though.

Who do Norway fans usually root for Finland or Sweden? I would think there's more dislike for Sweden as they're kinda the big boys on the block, but I don't know.

If Norway and Sweden were more evenly matched in hockey, I think there would be more of a "schadenfreude" in the mix. But since they usually is on a whole other level, I think more Norwegians wish them well than they would otherwise. Of course it's the sweetest feeling in the world the few times we beat Sweden, but those times are few and far between in hockey.

I think in regards of this particular game it really depends on the individual, but we have much more of a common nature with the Swedes than the Finns. Just about every Norwegian and Swede understand each other without any problems language wise, the languages is very closely related, but we have no ****ing clue about what the Finns are saying.

Personally I'm wishing them well, but that is also me wanting Hank and Hags to do well.

Call on the ice overturned. We have a good goal.

What was Hank doing there. Was he sleeping on the anticipation of an icing or something?

Seemed like the whole Swedish team stopped playing and waited for icing call.....
