Bad move by the Finns with the goalie pull...way to conservative down to the last second.

So Lundqvist will lead Sweden to his second Olympic medal, continuing to destroy the argument that he "hasn't won anything."

2 olympic medals
World championship medals
Vezina trophy
SEL MVP

I think it's for the NHLists who like to pretend that hockey outside of the NHL is nothing. That said, I still wish he was more consistent in the playoffs.

Agreed....it doesn't seem to be the worst coaching move. Although I still hate them not taking Hedman.

Yeah, it didn't look good at all against the worse teams to "not" have the more talented D's. But all those 4 D's played real well against Finland.

Sweden is going to have a tough time against either the US or Canada, they will have a shot but they might not really be able to compete either.

The kind of people who make those dumb claims equate anything to the Stanley Cup.

Agree. I recently watched a swedish interview with Nicklas Lidstrom, he ranked an Olympic gold medal at least as high as a cup. Although perhaps the Olympics matters more to Europeans..

Don't forget the Inline Gold :D

@mirtle: Wow. TSN graphic shows Lundqvist now has more wins in Olympics than any goalie other than Tretiak. Elite company.

****ing right Hank.

Lundqvist moves into 2nd all-time in Olympic wins. Behind some old guy named Tretiak

European coaches really don't seem to like pulling their goalies. The Finns had the cycle going in the Swedish end for a good half minute and Lehtonen's still in his crease. Maybe this is backseat coaching but it gets down under a couple minutes and I'd be looking for the first good opportunity--you never know if you're going to get a second chance. Those Olympic size arenas if you're dumping the puck in it takes more time to retrieve it and try to set up a play.

Goalie for the Soviets during their dominant era

Yeah I was just kidding  Everyone up here has seen Miracle 100 times too

If not Canada, it would be awesome to see Lundqvist grab another gold. Even if Canada beats USA today (big if, gonna be a crazy game), I wouldn't be angry if Canada lost as long as it's the Henrik Lundqvist show.

You don't know how nervous I am to watch Callahan and McDonagh go up against Weber. He hurts 1 or 2 guys a game. Chara may have the harder shot by a bit but I find Weber gets the blast off way more often.

Hags had another good game. Nothing too exciting overall from that match-up, but a solid win for the Swedes. They were my early prediction for gold, and I have had my doubts, but they are one win away now.

Now the real fireworks begin.
