Will he stay the whole season?
A finish hockey writer apparenntly "predicted" that he's going by to Sweden in a few weeks.

Can he go to Laval after 10-15 games, if he can't cut it?
I believe it's 10 weeks in the NHL before they can do that and he can't be injured.

I am very happy for the kid, but concerned about as time moves on, will he be able to keep going?
They do not play a lot of hockey with travel over in Europe.
Looks like he's the 14th forward. I'm not even sure if he's going to play unless someone else gets injured.

Great camp Oliver welcome to the team.
We thought this would be a great opportunity for you to get to know Michael Pezzetta.

Great Reward!
What is the second part to this move?

I think they want to see more of him and give him more time to show what he's capable of, his first preseason game was his best.

If he doesn't show enough in the games they will probably send him back within the first few weeks.

Heineman didn't have a good camp imo. I don't get the love fest.
The couple of partial games I saw he had some serious speed to his game, nice scoring chance built off his speed, caused some turnovers............big kid who was hustling every shift. Fits in the bottom 6 very nicely and can fill a role that they give him....

The kid took nothing for granted, and like Kap went out and earned it.......

Wait for Dvorak to get injured?

I think MSL wants to rotate Heineman and Kapanen, but every time he wanted to rotate players the last two seasons, he never really did it...

I guess it’s a question of standards and expectations. He didn’t get a bad camp. Kapanen’s camp was better. Roy’s camp was worse.

Fans who judge camps based on high light reels will not like his camp but he was hard on the forecheck and kept the game simple which is exactly what he needs to do. Use his speed/strength to disrupt the opposition and use his shot when he gets the opportunity.

Heineman played with the tenacity that he was missing at last years camp and was very effective.

We have to know if Heineman has taken that step so he'll start the season and we'll take it from there. I had great hope for him for a 3rd line big boy with a good engine and some skills.

He may not be a top 6 potential but he's got the frame and habits to be effective in a bottom 6.

In the future we could see our bottom 6 comprised of Tuch-Beck-Heineman on a 4th line and Roy/Newhook-Kapanen-Florian on a 3rd (or some variation). Talk about a cost controled bottom 6 with bite and size.

I see no issue with starting him slowly. Month ago, most of the people did not even consider him as potetial candidate for the spot. Now they want him to start on 2nd line, PK1 and PP2. Let just start him as 4th line winger and he can slowly move to 3rd line winger > 3rd line center > PK2 > PP2.
Give him time to breathe and adjust to higher tempo, traveling, new city...

I think there is way more hidden that we don't see. Things they were trying in practice.

I also think we are managing the waivers area of who is exempt and who is not.

Is there a deadline of when Kapanen can't be sent back to the SHL?

Plus Hage might be in the bottom six.

I don't think anyone sees an issue.
Long summer trying to be funny...

With three in four to start the season I'd be surprised if everyone doesn't get in a game.
I'm just hoping we can find a hybrid situation for him where he can play some center.
He was far more dynamic in the middle of the ice.

Mind you if we go 2-0 against the Leafs and Bruins all bets are off.

And then they will have someone to centre the 2nd line if Dach goes down. They need to make every effort to contend for a playoff spot this season.

By my count only 18 rookies made opening rosters who have yet to play an NHL game and only a couple of those others will make their North American debut (i.e. Michkov, Tsyplikov...). Pretty impressive him making the team.
