ok what's wrong with QUICK!?

Back surgery is not his problem. he's not lost any quickness. In fact he and Hextall dfunked that theory two weeks ago. His problem is focus. He's losing pucks and guessing.

I disagree. His reactions to secondary shots and rebounds are poor. He is also not regaining standing position anywhere near as quickly as he was last season. These things will come back over time, but there's a lack of punch to his movement right now.

I don't think he's the reason we lost tonight, not at all, but there are flaws in his game at the moment.

I see the same thing, not positionally sound on some shots.

He is going to recover that eventually.

He really wasn't.... at all. Bernier played a handfull of games and wasn't exactly setting the world on fire. As we all made comments earlier this month, Quick was not happy with Bernier getting two starts in a row.

And he shouldn't be. Quick is our starter and one of the best goalies in the nhl. Sutter should have never given Bernier 2 starts in a row over Quick.

Well Sutter won't be giving nether of them back to back's anymore.

Probably learned his lesson. Shame both Goalies are not capable this year.

Well gotta win with what you got.

Get her done Kings.

Edit:.

Goes to show you how good Henrik Lundqvist is, he has poor Defense in front of him (injuries) and he is still sporting a 920+ SV%.

Awesome

There is no lesson to be learned. There is nothing wrong with starting the goalie in back-to-back games. Do you really think that the outcome would have been different if Bernier had played tonight?

Nope Johnny B would have got shelled too. Maybe would have stopped one Quick let in.

Actually, Quick is currently the 3rd worst goalie in hockey and Bernier was allowing 1 goal a game behind the same team that we are so quick to blame for Jonathan's problems. The goal is winning games right?

You saying Quick hasn't won any games this year ?

The last goal was a prime example. He was playing the pass on the two on one and the shooter just beat him. The shooter is his man and Quick reacted after the puck was in the net. he wasn't squared to the shooter. He's pressing and I assume he doesn't like Bernier breathing down his neck. That's my two cents.

We can agree to disagree, right? They should have pulled Quick or started JB. I still maintain recovering from back surgery is part of his problem along with the crappy defense tonight.

Once Johnny B has a bad game you guys will be throwing him under the Bus as well.

So not worried about it.

Both guys have to pick up a little slack, for how bad the Defense is.

Quick has not missed more than 1/10 of his starts the three years prior to this year.

But he did not have back surgery either. If the season was not short due to the lockout, I wonder if he would have gone down to Manchester for a short conditioning assignment?

Ok, this is where your fantasy league playing gets in the way of reasoning. It doesn't matter if JQ's current stats are one of the worst or not, because he's proven year after year that he's a great goalie. Heck if you really think that he's the 3rd worst goalie, we should just waive him, should we not?

In some peoples interpitation he has but in the games he has allowed one or two goals the Kings have given him 3 or 4.

I don't want this to sound like I'm a Quick hater. He's my third favorite player on the team behind Anze and DD but I like the Kings more than Quick and I'm trying to be objective. I'm not even saying Bernier should be splitting time. I'm simply commenting on Quicks struggles. Struggles that i am certain he will snap out of.

Well , we re not getting anywhere near the finals with .828 sv%.

That's today. He will improve as his back gets better, and he feels better. Take Dwight Howard as a lesson in this.

He will be fine. And he will win back-to-back Conn Smythes.

I understand that you're a nurse and you know more than most of us on the board regarding affects of back surgery. However, don't you think the kings medical staff would have better knowledge than you regarding Quick's back?

I don't know. I had a herniated disk, had ligaments transported from my leg into my back, have a battery in my back and 1/4 rod fused. I've got some history. Quick's problem was nothing like that so sometimes I dumb down other peoples back problems. You could be right ;)

I believe he's a top 3 goalie in the world. Just not this year. Do you think he's currently the goalie of the past?

Does he have the same defense as the past?

That brings the circle back to what we all believe is Quick's real issue, and brings the question back up as to how Bernier has been so effective under the same circumstances.

The D is bad but that's not the whole problem.
