Holl, Kerfoot and Gustafsson out for picks/prospects. Then package up picks/prospects (probably better ones than we get for Holl/Kerf/Gus) for one of Bertuzzi, Domi or JvR - all expiring contracts on non-playoff teams, seems like all are being at least somewhat shopped.

Could roll with some insane lineups in this scenario, for example if we dealt for Bertuzzi, then decided to go with a 3-line attack (similar to the Pens B2B cup teams with Crosby/Malkin/Kessel on different lines):

Personally, I'd be after a #2 left winger, likely using Kerfoot cap space to make it happen.

They should be set at C IMO, Matthews, Tavares, ROR, Kampf & Acciari rotate on the 4th line.

Get a guy that you can use interchangably with Knies on a 2nd/3rd line and have a 3-deep offence. Bertuzzi a consideration, Greenway another. Something along the lines of:

But many Insiders are saying the Leafs are going to flip Gustafsson and Boston's 1st. The suitors for Chychurn is shrinking now that Boston and Edmonton are out. Just saying.

You have to think Gustafsson is going to be shipped out. He's an offensive minded LD is weak defensively. Who's he starting over? Rielly? No. Giordano? No. Jake McCabe, we just got him so no.

Are we running 11F/7D? I hope not.

Same question for Schenn. Where does he fit in between Holl/Brodie/Liljegren. Have to think Holl is the odd man out there. Either he sits or he's traded.

We need forwards as well. I get nobody liked Engvall here but he is a solid 15-20 goal guy who could play PK, PP, 5v5 and was defensively responsible. We need someone that can put up that sort of production. And no you can't just automatically slot in Knies and assume he's gonna excel right away.

The bottom six is some combo of Accari, Jarmkrok, ZAR, Kerfoot, Kampf and a bunch of AHL guys. That's not good enough.

Thinking Gustafsson flipped to DAL for a surpringly respectable futures package, Murray activated, Woll down = ~$1.6M to use.

Maybe they can fit in a winger in at that price tag. If not you're using ZAR $ to fit a ~$2.4M F or Kerfoot $ to get that closer to $5M.

So...
-Gustafsson out, new F added with the possibility of Kerfoot or ZAR (or neither) being additional collateral depending on the cap hit of the addition.
