There isn’t a highlight of it but late in tonight’s game up 7-1 he’s caught deep in the offensive zone on a turnover, hustles his ass all the way back below his own goal line to beat the Wild forward there for the loose puck, then does enough to get it out.

He’s basically what you hoped Puljujarvi actually would be. A tall winger who can forecheck and be solid defensively and who doesn’t trip over his own shadow in the offensive zone.

Kane - Henrique - Arvy as a third line might be pretty good.
Skinner needs to go. Like do something. Stop fxxx around with the cap.

Good to squeeze what they can out of Kapanen but he’ll wash out like he always does, hes a flawed player.

Also, Led Zeppelin sucks

Well that's the thing, you have to get use out of "flawed" players.

It's not going to be all perfect players in a cap world, the teams that get production and good usage out of "flawed" players are called "good teams".

Maybe flawed played on a flawed team like yours ?
He’s never been able to maintain consistent offensive contribution, in the long run he’s a bottom 6er but it’s good that we can squeeze more out of him while we’re dealing with some injuries. Maybe he figures it out at 28 but most likely he finds his way back into the bottom 6 or into the PB as the season wears on and we get guys back, which is fine because the Oilers are really deep up front.

He’s doing some things that I wouldn’t expect of his reputation. Like blocking shots. Deferring to more skilled players. Poise and patience with the puck.

Maybe 3rd times the charm. This is his “final chance” after all. I remain hopeful with the tools he has.

Islands in the stream.
Lets get this guy walking and then skating first lol.

Please tell me it isn't his back. Must be if he is out this long.
People with some CBA pedigree could maybe help answer this but I've suspected Arvid wasn't healthy coming here. He played only 18 games last season, was hurt in at least two of those games, and had two back surgeries and ongoing injury trouble really his entire career. He's not played anywhere near complete seasons the last 7yrs always missing a lot of games and one complete playoffs in LA. If it is back could the Oilers get contract erased in regards to player health perhaps being misrepresented? Or just the LTIR benefit.

That's fine. There's supposed to be players like that on your roster (3rd line players who can tween up on the 2nd line for a bit because they have some level of skill). It's better to pay 1 million for that instead of 3 million.

You make a good point, but that is only if some of these guys play "the proper way" in the bottom 6.
I think they will figure it out. Too much talent not to. Skinner has probably had to change his game the most but he’s getting there imo.

When we’re healthy I kind of want to see Kane replace Nuge on the top line. Then run a Nuge, Arvidsson, Skinner 3rd line.

Am I right that if we LTIR him for the year (if it came to it), we basically get his salary to bring in a player ala Vega and Stone.

Unless Arvidsson is like dead, Drai has to figure something out with him at least and then you can keep Podkolzin there hopefully. Do a voodoo ritual, sacrifice a goat on a mountain, I don't give a f***, get it working.

We can't have that many players wash out of the top 6.
