My big worry is that we come out bad in game 1 like Florida did tonight after a week off and Bruins having only a tiny break.
We always play like ass after a long break but Vancouver had almost the same time off so no excuses for rusty play.My big worry is that we come out bad in game 1 like Florida did tonight after a week off and Bruins having only a tiny break.
Don't forget pk. He's the most annoying for me ainecAllies like Whitney I could do without. He's carved this org, and this team more times than I care to count including this season.
he was one of the first to jump the ship this season and talk about how awful and doomed this club was.
Don't care for Biznasty either. Sad day when village idiots became the sporting media.
Perhaps I’m punch drunk from all previous actions on the nhl part. You should probably wait until finals actually start, until then your crystal ball works no better than mine.

$1 Mil in Surrey buys you a few kilos for sure and some assault weaponsI don't even know what $1 mil buys you in Surrey now.
For me it's Vancouver which is a drug addicted hellhole and rampant crime. Oddly enough these residents don't seem to even care about the Canucks. It's even more expensive and mentally exhausting to live here than in a Surrey or Richmond. At least there you can actually live in a house.
Then you got the suburbs where poorer people live like Surrey and in their defense they are actually fans of the Canucks. Let's quit acting like the Canucks have some glorious history and the those men pre rioting are akin to EPL soccer ultras.
Just comical behaviour witnessing the apathy and the extremism in the same city.
same reasoning for meI was a Habs fan until 1979. I hated the Leafs back then because HNIC was the only place to watch NHL games and sometimes they’d televise the crappy Leafs a few Saturday nights in a row and you’d miss out on watching the Stanley cup champions for a while. Now I hate the Leafs because all their media and most of their fans are delusional idiots.
Fuked my plans as well. I had Wednesday off. Now I have to get a pregame nap, wake up at 1130, watch game and out door for work at 345AMBody clock still on Euro time, woke up at 2 AM ready to go....got all my catching up on emails, etc and now just waiting for the game to start.
Wait. It doesn't start until TOMORROW.
FFS. Back to bed
just reading Canucks board
Interesting comment from one fan. They suggest that someone shadow Drai on PP essentially making it a 4 on 3 PP. Not sure if I agree with that view. Sure would open lots of space for McDavid to skate at will and Bouch to get off bombs.
Whitney sure sounded off on the Canucks. He hates them
So many options on our PP. I wish Nuge had a one-timer. He is more of a set-up man. He has a wicked wrist shot. When we first got Nuge, I thought we had the next Joe Sakic. Same area, skating ability, shot. Lets hope Nuge scores a pile against his hometown teamWas interesting listening to the PDOcast with Dmitri Filopovic describing how impossible it is to defend the PP.
Its set up so that teams like the Kings defend low to take away the Hyman option which creates mini 2-on-1s with McDavid and Draisaitl, so if they take Draisaitl away down low as well it gives Bouchard a one timer from basically just above the hash marks in the middle of the ice, which is way closer than any other team's PPQB because of how much space they give the Oilers up top of the zone. That's all if they don't move around and McDavid doesn't just move to another spot.
He is giving that fan base ammo to use against us and justify bashing of our players and fans.Whatever his reason or motive, I don't really care, if he's crapping on the Canucks, it's all good with me.
Throw in Holloway as well.Very important to wear down Hughes and Pettersson in this series. Dont let them skate at all. Guys like Kane, VD, Nurse, Ekholm, Foegele should make their life a living hell
great pointThrow in Holloway as well.
thats what the oilers have wanted all season. if you wanna isolate 29 and leave 97 and 18 and 2 and 93 to cook then that is the poison you take.just reading Canucks board

93 is the most important piece to make the pp as effective as it is. when her was hurt last season the PP dropped something like 15% in that time. nuge can make passes not many people in the league can. you have to respect him as a shooter cause he can score with his perfectly placed wristshots. you cant let 97-29-2 shoot, you cant leave 93 open and hyman in front of the net is 50% a decoy and 50% a clean up in the event the shots dont go in. it might be the hardest PP to defend ive ever seen. each player can carve you up. Bouchard has a complete bomb but at teh same time he is an elite passer so you cant man to man anyone. So many options on our PP. I wish Nuge had a one-timer. He is more of a set-up man. I think the Oilers win in 6 truthfully. I did put money on Nucks in 7 as as hedge. I feel like if we lose it's most likely in 7 and the odds are bettermost of the Nucks votes in the poll are trolling Nucks posters coming in here and voting in the hfOilers poll. jebus get a life.
But 3 of the voters alledge being Oilers fans or are at least constant posters here.
So I'll ask, not calling out but how is it @gordonhught @Sra1974 and @Whoshattenkirkshoes why are you all voting for Vancouver. A chance to demonstrate your take or reveal.
Something doesn't add up here.
I do agree that you shouldn't be called out for having an opinion that differs from the majority of the board but that Flames team was definitely better than this Canucks team, their top line in particular was dominant, their forecheck was ferocious and they had a Vezina caliber goalie. I truly didn't think the Oilers had much of a chance in that series.Allege Oiler fan? Cmon man, are you Kevin Lowe where my vote puts me in some sort of different tier of fan. Like being a fan of the team since they came in the league and a season ticket holder for two decades doesn’t count, I have to blindly vote for them an internet poll to qualify? Missed that in the fan rule book, Will note for next time.
As for why, maybe it’s my subconscious trying to avoid getting my hopes too high, but there are real concerns. This team has beat two teams in the playoffs recently, the Kings and Flames. The Canucks are better than both of those teams easily, so I think they are not an easy out.
While the sweep is circumstantial due to the early season wins and Mcdavid being out but the fact remains they dismantled the Oilers this year. The special teams will not be as dominant as thyey were in round 1. I think the layoff hurts the oilers and could get behind early in the series making it tough to get back into it.
There’s no math behind it, no deep analytical stuff, just a feeling of dread. Of course I want them to win really badly, despite what you might think, and I hope I am wrong.
why does the bubble matter? Not sure what you're looking at but it's only 17 wins. 10 of those came in the bubble.
Though Edmonton has 20 wins over that same stretch.
This will be an issue for sure.

I don't think this Canucks team is as good as that team although I do think they present matchup problems for the Oilers with their speed and forecheck, the Oilers defense struggles with heavy forechecks which is why it was baffling that the Kings stuck with the passive 1-3-1 outside of Game 4 but I'm glad they did.
I'm not picking the Canucks to win the series but I think this will be a much stiffer test than the Kings were especially for the defense. I actually think they'll be in for a rude awakening in Game 1 handling Vancouver's aggressiveness.
