I don't like the idea. I don't see Armia as an upgrade on the Jets current 4th liners (Barron, Gus, Kupari, Iafallo), and they have Ford, AJF, Toninato in reserve. I could see a depth addition, but not at 3.4M cap hit. If the Jets want a player like that I think Tanev would add a different dimension with his speed and physicality.
I think they need to aim higher and look for a real solution at 2C, and keep their powder dry if not. The Jets seem likely to keep Ehlers but might lose him as a UFA, and might need to acquire another top-6 forward in the summer. As always, the 1st round pick is going to be more valuable around the Draft than it is now. The Jets' window will remain open for a few years, so it would be good to balance their asset management.
So, if they can get Nelson or ROR for a 1st, then it makes sense to take a shot. But they shouldn't use their top trade assets on players that aren't clear upgrades. Better to focus on some depth, instead.
