If your not giving up much, your not getting much.. so why even bother…
Swing big or go home..
Two 1st round picks, a prospect or two should get you there for Dobson
Yes i would deal picks and a prospect but that's not going to get you a 1st line defenseman especially when our 1st is basically a 2nd .And how big do we have to go? We are currently the best team in the league.

comparing a Dobson trade to another high-pick/name-value RD...

Seth Jones + a 2021 1st (32nd overall) + 2022 6th was traded for

Boqvist (3 years removed from being 8th OA, 76gp 29 pts)
2021 1st (12th overall)
2021 2nd (44th overall)
2022 1st (unknown at the time; ended up being 6th overall)

the 2021 1st (32nd) and the 2021 2nd (44th overall) probably cancel out as their pretty close in selection spots. I think Seth Jones had higher name value than Dobson at the time.

Hopefully we will start to see some moves coming out of the 4 Nation's. I think they move Ville out right away it's clear that he needs a fresh start and the organization at this point will get more value out of the pick and the additional cap space than the insurance policy of having him around is worth. Detroit & PIT are both teams that may have some interest both have multiple mid round picks and both could use a lottery ticket on the left side. I highly doubt Elliott mentioned Ville specifically on 32 Thoughts without getting a nudge from someone (Ville's Agent). Ville plus a lower pick from the Jets 5th / 6th should net a 3rd in return.

Montreal is far enough back that they will start to sell. Armia for something like a 3rd and a 5th should get it done. Armia would be a huge improvement on Barron and Appleton at 5 on 5 and he is an excellent penalty killer. Obviously knows the organization well would be easy to integrate into this group. Minimal risk good upside get it done Chevy.

Nothing against Armia, but i like Appletons speed in the bottom 6.

what is with this fan base and trying to reacquire it's former players
He's available as an upcoming UFA, the cost should be very affordable, he is an excellent PK forward, hes scoring at a higher rate 5v5 then a than most of the guys in the bottom 6. I'm not suggesting he's the answer on the 2nd line but I think he's a heck of an upgrade on Barron and if they are able to upgrade 2C and Namestnikov drops down I'd much rather have Armia then Kupari as my 4th line RW. The fact that he played here before is a bonus he is a legitimately good fit for some of the holes they have in the forward group.

If he came dirt cheap then fine, but I don't want to down grade the speed of the bottom six for armia who will get less ice time on the jets then he does in mtl, if we get a 2c then a combo of barron/names/iaffalo/kurpari/gus would be more then fine

Zero interest in going backwards and bringing back Armia. Only Habs roster players I’d have any interest in are named Suzuki, Caulfield, and Slafkovsky

If Sam Bennett becomes available, he might be a fit.
6’1, 194lb, 28yr old, left shot C, making 4,425,000 then UFA after this season.
Current season stats are 18G, 17A, in 55GP

Unlikely Florida moves him, but you never know anymore, after the Rantanen trade
