if the preds weren't comfortably ahead they would have continued to beat on the oilers like a Salvation Army drum.

They called off the dogs after the first period. Not sure how that isn't obvious. That was the worst period Preds have played all year in the 2nd.

Pretty sure I know the answer to this, but we can't still buy out a player this offseason and have it fit with that compliance buy out, can we?

Because I would buy out Nikitin so quickly.
Compliance buyouts were only for the 2013 and 2014 offseasons. They are gone forever regardless of if a team didn't use both of theirs.

And yet come the third when the Oilers should have pushed hard the Preds shut everything down.

Missing marincin and klefbom really show how awful our Dmen are at breaking the puck out.

I haven't seen us blindly throw the puck up the boards so much in a very long time. Especially ference. Just no look right to the point where a Nashville D grabbed it.

With the 5th overall pick in the 2015 nhl draft...the oilers are so proud to select...from the Erie Otters of the OHL...Dylan Strome!

Our top pairing reminds me of the good old days with Smid and Staios using the ever effective "hammer it around the boards" method of breaking out. Except Petry seems to prefer the dump into the slot...

Jokinen, Legwand, could've taken a flyer on Brodziak maybe, send a pick to the Wild...

This from the poster who (just last season) railed on and on about how no player would ever come to Edmonton.

Good stuff.

I don't know if I buy that. He was able to get a top 6 forward for Paajarvi and a 2nd rounder which are fairly low value assets.

There are deals to be had out there if MacT really wanted to pull the trigger. Boychuk is one example.

Acquiring Boychuk in exchange for 2nd and 3rd (cond.) pick in 2015 and 2nd in 2016 has a huge risk factor.

In my opinion, 2015 Draft will have the deepest talent pool in years.

Money talks. Look at what they signed Nikitin for.

Money isnt the motivating factor you think it is for the better players.

Location matters more for a lot of players. For middling players it seems to be a different story.

Yep. At no point could the Oilers establish much of anything in the 3rd. We were lucky to be even close in this one. That and Scrivens shutting the door.

Eberle almost tied the game, so did Arcobello. We had our chances. Would've liked a few more but Nashville has a blueline basically tailor made to guard a one goal lead in the 3rd. Nashville had the one chance after the Eberle rush with Neal and that was basically it.
