If Campbell is fine to backup tonight than he's not injured. No need to panic.

He's been a backup his whole career and has had multiple injuries this year. Its smart to not play him every game. More rest increases the chances he's sharp and healthy when it matters. These games don't really matter, we're making the playoffs.

Would be sweet to shut them down. Oiler fans seem to have given up on their team and instead are talking about how bad/crazy people from Toronto are and the refs are working for us.....There is no other fan base that seems as convinced we are some sort of monster fans inferior as human beings. I think their Mods overlook a lot of hateful posts which is spilling on to the main boards.

Goaltending injuries have been an Achilles heel for us this season so far. I wonder if it’s due to the tight schedule and limited practices/rest days.

I wonder if maybe we should seriously consider looking for another goalie at the deadline. Maybe Dubas can find a way to pick up someone like Ullmark.

Well, I just don't buy that Florida's suddenly that good.

Anyways, below the record...

Goal Differential

1. TBL +1.21
2. COL +1.18
3. VGK +0.97
4. TOR +0.76
5. CAR +0.75
6. NYI +0.63
7. WSH +0.59
8. PIT +0.54
9. FLA +0.52
10. EDM +0.51

11. MIN +0.50
12. WPG +0.49
13. MTL +0.48
14. NYR +0.44
15. BOS +0.32
16. DAL +0.16
17. LAK +0.03

Fair enough, I'm not sure I buy it either. At the same time, if you're going to use PTS% to compare teams but ignore it when you just don't buy what it's telling you then I don't really know what to say.

What were that other stats you posted comparing TOR/EDM, was that number of shots for and against? I don't recall seeing anyone ever use that as a valid way of comparing teams, when did you start doing that?

The gap between TOR/EDM in the standings could be a virtual tie two games from now. To me, that says it's hard to say with certainty that one team is better than the other so I stand by what I said - the standings tell us that these two teams are roughly on the same tier.

yup. there's no way Dubas doesn't get us a goalie now, season could be in legit danger otherwise

I wouldn't count on it.

Campbell is a better solution then Andersen moving forward, whether you see it or not. Andersen was a terrible solution from the very beginning so effectively, nothing has changed in your eyes, right?

Campbell and Andersen are both huge question marks at this point (whether you see it or not).

I still have no idea what you're talking about with this "nothing has changed" comment. Things change every day and therefore you need to be constantly being open to reevaluating your position if you want to have a clue. For example, the fact that Campbell isn't starting tonight changes things somewhat (whether you see it or not). You see?

Like it or not, it's a solution that means Leafs are moving on from Andersen. Thus it is a better solution.

Source? Or do you claim to be able to read the minds of our management team? Or did this come to you in a dream or what?

Leafs are going to have to really ramp it up defensively tonight. Hope Hutch doesn’t allow 2 goals on 4 shots again but I’m none too confident.
BTW I thought Hutch let in two of three before he was pulled?

Didn't Fred let in two of the first four shots in the next game after that?

After those two stinkers I had wondered whether the Leafs might have been better starting the game without a goalie and going with six skaters?

If they could have prevented a few shots on goal it would have been better because the goalies weren't stopping much.

I think it was the second game where Keefe pulled the goalie with six minutes left, and Marner made the best save of the night.

At any rate, they wound up short.

Hutch is starting tonight, apparently Campbell will be backing up. They are trying to manage his workload for obvious reason as he has never been the go-to guy in his career.

Let's hope the team plays as well in front of Hutch as they did a few weeks ago. Defense wins championships.

I sort of wouldn't mind seeing Tavaras and Spezza on the same line. Their styles and pacing might compliment each other. Throw Hyman or Simmonds on the wing and you have a difficult line to face as the opponent.

I don't mind Jack getting a little recovery time. Hutch starts; weaker in goal sure but so are Edmonton. I think it is a smart tactic. Bank on offense to outscore opponent.

With Gally-JT-Nylander line going offensively last game; and depth scoring has been there I think us out producing oilers is much more likely than less likely. Unless McDavid and Drai combine to score 4 to 5 goals I think we gonna be fine.

Not too worried even if we loss. Gotta manage goalies we would need them at 100% during playoff run. I don't think it matters especially in the Canadian division where we finish to be honest; obviously would be nice to finish no. 1 and rub it in to other fanbases but dont think it will have as big of an impact on ice IMO; compared to healthy goalies and time/workload management.

Every team's schedule moving forward is freakin' brutal; goalies gonna get burned out - it is smart to rest our goalies

Hutch and the boys shut them out last time he played them, let's do it again. Play how we did last game and we should have this, harass the 2 man show and the rest is easy. Hope Keefe puts the JT line + Rielly/Brodie matched against McDavid all night. Even if that line can't score, just contain them. The rest of the game should be easy, nobody else in their line up scares me.

He played lots of go to games before coming to Toronto. I like Hutch getting in and staying in the swing of it. Give him a few in a row, I’m confident with him this year. He’s been excellent. What have ya done for me lately shows he had one bad period.

We are literally throwing the Oilers a bone by playing Hutchinson tonight. If they can’t manage to win, they may as well pack it up for the rest of the season.
