Somewhere nice
Just checked the ice time now.

That is not going to work.
Its not sustainable specially with condense schedule.

Our middle 6 will not be on a hot streak also forever....

Hopefully PLD put Maurice in a tough decision.....

I have to say I was starting buy into the narrative of "Perreault is just a washed up 4th liner now" at the beginning of the season but he has shown himself to be fantastic with Lowry, looks like Perreault of the old.

It makes you wonder that CSW still comes off with 22,23 and 26 mins of toi, and the 2nd line 16,17 and 18.

Yeah. Ehlers with 16... Only 13 mins of ES.
It’s just ridiculous. I’m not sure Mo has it in him to keep CSW under 20 min. Tonight the guy has other lines rolling but just can’t f’n do it. Tired, indifferent, don’t give a shit about the excuse it’s on the Coach to make the right in game calls.

Im happy they won but they almost coughed it up again. Has to stop. Excuses are running out when PLD suits up

ESC put on a clinic. Happy for Lowsy & Perrault! Apples decent. 4th line looking sharp in their limited ice time. Defense not a tire fire - DeMelo shaking off the rust finally. Helle with a shaky start, but tightened it up.

If I was the coach, I'm not splitting up ESC, and line 1 is underperforming, so when Dubois arrives I'm pairing him with Connor, Schief w/ Wheeler, and running 4 lines evenly. With a hot Lowsy, that's 4 lines that can score, impossible to defend against, and everyone stays fresh all game. It's an embarrassment of riches at this point once PLD's ready to play, with the emergence of the ESC chemistry.

Wonder if he’s been playing banged up for a long time. Then again his confidence must have been low. Great to see his resurgence.

Just some thoughts:
- ESC line was great and was the reason we won that game.
- Lowry was a good choice to play against the McD line, although it was annoying that it took so long for Pomo to switch em up.
- Forbort is starting to get more comfortable within our systems I think. As we go along, he might get better. Still slow though.
- Hellbuck started rusty again, but again, through the rest of the game, he locked it down. Good goalies can do that.
- scary watching ehlers down. Without him, our offence might've suffered hard these next few weeks.
- Stanley seems fine, I wouldn't mind seeing Heinola or Samberg as well sometimes. We know Pomo won't pull the Beaulieu because he's the vet.
Yeah, I started panicking when Nikky went down. Scary. I don't care if Forbort or Booboo are playing "okay" - Heinola is still better, and we should be icing the best lineup. Even rotating would be smart, because you don't want to end up with a situation with injuries and then throwing Heinola in after not playing for a month or something...

I'd put him on the first line, Scheifele needs to know there is a challenger. I honestly think he is content with thinking he is the #1 center forever. Otherwise, second line. He's that good. I think he would compliment Ehlers and Copp even more than Statsny.
If this were to really happen, will Scheifele pout and adopt a bad attitude?

They should too. Tippet makes a lot of head scratching decisions. Seems pretty stubborn too.

But also they just have an abomination of a bottom 6 and a defense that's somehow worse than ours, so I don't know if it all falls on Tippett
You know the Oilers defense is bad when Nurse is part of their number one D pair. (Correct me if he's not a 1D pair). He doesn't have good hockey IQ and he takes too many penalties.

If I'm not mistaken, Ehlers is #1 in NHL points right now. Below is before tonights game. McDavid and Draisaitl both had 2 points tonight, with puts them at 14 and 13. Ehlers had 4 points which puts him at 15.

Edit: Upon further inspection, these stats include tonights game so Ehlers is 3rd in points. My mistake. But, he'll get there soon enough.;)

Quick thoughts...

81-55-26 Comically bad game by all three. They are clearly gassed, so of course Maurice double shifts them late. They have some time off to recuperate, and Maurice has some time to rethink how he uses them.

9-25-27 Wow. This line is on fire. Ehlers has hit another level this season and Copp just keeps getting better. And Stastny is just so smart. Ehlers is benefiting from getting the RW slot with Laine's departure.

85-17-22 Lowry continued in beast mode. Rumours of his demise were greatly exaggerated. Perreault with another energetic game, and Appleton is playing with good pace, though he still needs to improve his D zone play.

12-19-23 Solid game. Gus was solid and Lewis is smart and fast. Harkins played a smart game and shows some confidence with the puck.

44-2 Morrissey is improving after a slow start to the season. He's doing a lot of good things with the puck. DeMelo was solid, with good small area puck movement, which is his trademark.

24-4 Poor game with the puck by Forbort, his second weak game in a row. Pionk was good, covering for Forbort's struggles with the puck.

64-88 Generally solid game from Stanley. As usual, Beaulieu had one disastrous shift - losing position along the boards and then making some bad decisions that led to more D zone time.

Hellebuyck had a really poor first, but was okay thereafter.

Overall, a good effort and an important win.

I'm
What I find interesting is people relishing one line or certain players having an off game. When in reality really good teams survive off games by their stars because they have enough other talented players who can step up. Tonight was important not because Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler had an off game, but rather we have enough talent for other players to step up and take control of the game. This will be a very very good team once we add PLD to the mix.
I'm biased off course, but I feel Jets legit have the best depth in the North Division.
