Aside from the obvious play of the 2nd line, I really just wanted to stress that Perreault has really looked good these last few games. Our middle six is killing teams, and our 4th line has been pretty steady. When Scheifele and Wheeler get their ass in gear we are going to look pretty scary.

He has, but the most improved thing ( knock on wood ) is other than the 1st game... no lazy / dumb penalties.

I'd put him on the first line, Scheifele needs to know there is a challenger. I honestly think he is content with thinking he is the #1 center forever. Otherwise, second line. He's that good. I think he would compliment Ehlers and Copp even more than Statsny.

I'm honestly a little doubtful of that. He doesn't attack the slot like he used to, a lot of the success they're having seems to be Copp and Stastny both playing hard in front of the net.

The Oilers whole game plan is counter attack quickly up the ice. That is why players get caught out against them. It works though and if you are looking to score they can turn it up the ice quickly against you.

Dubois is very active in front of the net, I don't think Stastny is any better at that honestly. But, we'll see. It's a good position to be in regardless.

I thought you meant Copp-Scheifele-Ehlers on the second and Connor-Dubois-Wheeler with Stastny and Scheifele essentially demoted on paper. If you meant Dubois just knocking Stastny or Copp down then I think that's the plan.

Edit to add: That's what I meant by 'he doesn't attack the slot like he used to ' I meant Scheifele. Scheif might not be able to replicate the success Stastny has had with Ehlers and Copp. Thought I should explain my post better.

Ehlers without Laine tied to his hip looks like a freed man with his ball and chain removed. It is unlikely that Laine is going to get to play with two guys who are feeling it as much as Ehlers and Stastny are. Too bad.

My eye test told me that the top line was horrific but looking at their stats they did decent considering their matchup. They need to be more direct in games like this, just follow the hockey cliche of getting the puck to the net and bodies to the net when al those precision passes aren't going for them.

Helle let in a couple of bad goals but shut it down after the 1st.

I don't know where this scoring from Adam Lowry is coming from.

Jets are a very weird team this year. They look like 17-18 "pack of wolves" Jets for long stretches but bad in other stretches. Either way the quality of hockey is definitely improved from last season.

Forbort was much better this game, still not a fan of some of his decisions.

What I find interesting is people relishing one line or certain players having an off game. When in reality really good teams survive off games by their stars because they have enough other talented players who can step up. Tonight was important not because Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler had an off game, but rather we have enough talent for other players to step up and take control of the game. This will be a very very good team once we add PLD to the mix.
