Who knows.
This time last year I thought Jersey and the Panthers would be in the hunt for Bedard, and thought Tampa was still the team to beat.
The last time the media was this bullish on the Oilers winning the cup, they completely missed the playoffs.
I'm a die-hard Oiler fan, but I'm a bit torn on this.
Yes, most cup winning teams in recent memory have shown they can "lock it down" when they're up 1-0 with a period of hockey left. But the Oilers completely unravel when they try and protect a lead like that.
What the Oilers are good at, is making the game 2-0 then 3-0.
Sitting back on a 3 goal lead means we will likely lose, but they're absolutely dangerous knowing they're going to try and make it 4-0.
Lets be honest, if you had McDavid + Draisaitl, and a 1-0 lead, are you asking them to block shots?
Or when teams are trying to create offense, you make them pay for their aggressive play?

Ultimately it depends if the teams mentality has changed. Are they tired of losing? Is the team (forwards and defense) going to play a better defensive and composed game? How will the goaltending perform (if the team is better infront of them)?
