I'd even make that a by golly.Only the first game, but ... golly.
Elkhom is a good defender but one guy playing or out unless it’s like Cale Makar shouldn’t be a deciding factor to automatically fix your D or have it turn to absolute shit. Just one game but Jesus Christ that entire team was bad tonight
The Oilers have some big weaknesses that gets overlooked by many people here. Number 1 is their goalies which are not great and below average. Number 2 is their depth on D. They keep talking about Elkhom being injured as the reason for not looking good on D but that is such a cliche excuse imo. Their D is dependent on some individuals to be present on the ice to look good, like they don't have a system or D by committee strategy that Tocchet is employing. Injuries can and will happen and if you can't play without one of your players then you are not really a cup contender. So if injuries hit the Oilers or Elkhom gets injured they are screwed, if McD gets injured they are screwed and if their goalies don't pickup their game they are screwed. Lots of weaknesses for a top 3 contending team. And last I checked, cup winning teams usually have a decent goalie between the posts.Takes more than a pretty looking roster with lots of points to win a Stanley Cup.
You want to know which teams win in a cap league? The teams that have the roster that has attention to detail. That is focused on winning the 1 on 1 battles. Know why "doing the little things right" is such a well worn hockey cliche? It's because it's f***ing true, it is an absolute truism of winning hockey. You need a coach that inspires that kind of top to bottom to a man play. The Oilers score goals and can score goals and will score many more goals. Unfortunately that's only half the game. The other half is keeping goals out.
Keep on believing. Nothing wrong with that. They’ll adjust. Get your hits in now because odds are, they’ll be holding the Cup 8 months from now.
Not likely. But anything’s possible. They’ll adjust. Get your hits in now because odds are, they’ll be holding the Cup 8 months from now.
Sure, for those fans that play NHL 24.They’ll adjust. Get your hits in now because odds are, they’ll be holding the Cup 8 months from now.
Correction.... they'll be holding their cup. Vegas will be holding The CupThey’ll adjust. Get your hits in now because odds are, they’ll be holding the Cup 8 months from now.
he is a tire fire on most nightNurse in 9th in even strength points amongst D men the last 5 years.
21st in +/- over that same 5 year period.
This while playing some of the most difficult minutes and hardest quality of competition.
But yeah, “tire fire” most nights.
Their initial odds are predictions to an extent…but ultimately the odds on futures are based on how the public is betting them…Pinnacle has Edmonton Oilers as the favorite to win the Stanley Cup, and by a significant margin. It looks like:
Top tier: Oilers
Second tier: Avalanche, Hurricanes, Leafs
Third tier: Devils, Golden Knights, Stars, Bruins
Rest
Publications might care about this stuff, but sportsbooks such as Pinnacle care about making money, so they're only motivated by making as strong predictions as possible.
