This has nothing to do with the Bowman situation other than the delay in getting a GM in place. Armstrong was looking for these sorts of deals. BUt Bowman will wear the consequences if he can't make lemonade out of this lemon.

There is no lemonade here. All outcomes are bad truthfully. You walk away from them both, and look to other options.

We signed 8000 players on July 1st but not our RFAs. Everyone was saying it was the best offseason ever. Now we're in the "finding out" stage.

I'd probably let both walk but Broberg absolutely for sure.

Take the 2nd round pick for Broberg. A pick in the 30-40s will let them acquire a better rental RD at the deadline.

Holloway will be a tough call at $2M AAV. Guess they will have to check on Kane's situation closely.

To be honest I would match Holloway. Broberg…if we had the money I’d match him too but…

The lemonade is to replace the players with options that perform at a similar level for a fraction of the price.

I wonder if part of the reason for the J. Skinner signing, was that JJ expected an offer sheet on Holloway to come, and he was lining up the replacement in advance. Hmmm.

I would match Broberg and walk from Holloway:

  • Current Cap: - $354,167
  • LTIR Kane: + $5,125,000
  • Brown AHL: + $1,000,000
  • Broberg Match: - $4,580,917
  • Lavoie Roster: - $775,000 (Savoie if he proves it at - $886,666)
  • Projected Cap w/ LTIR: + $414,916 (+ $303,916 if Savoie)
  • 22 Man Roster: 13F, 7D, 2G
You then figure out a traded at the deadline to improve your D Core (i.e. Codi Ceci + Picks for a Dman slightly retained, etc.).

I like Holloway, but unless you are confident in Akey or Wanner being able to step up now we need to solidify the D more than the forwards.

An offersheet doesn't exist if the players don't sign it. So they have been signed if the 7 days have started.
This needs to be pinned to the first post.

If an offer sheet is announced, it means IT HAS BEEN SIGNED BY THE PLAYER.

Teams talk to players all the time about potential offer sheets but we never hear about them unless it has been signed by the player.

This site can be exhausting sometimes.
Amen.
