Could [Khaira - Yakimov - Chase] be this teams elite heavy third line down the line?

Wasn't that suppose to be
Martindale - Pitlick - Hamilton?

Please don't say it's different this time, lol, it's exactly the same.

Does Khaira go back to the CHL or will he go to OKC?

Hopefully we get a stop gap 2C and then leave the 3C sheltered for one of Draisaitl, Arco, Lander, and even Yakimov to battle it out. Draisaitl gets the first 9 and if he looks over matched in that role then we go to one of Arco, Lander, Yakimov whoever shows they can handle it and be productive.

Hopefully we are still in the picture in march but if we are out of it, I would like to see guys like Yakimov, Moroz, Khaira (if eligible) get some time up with the big club so they can know what to expect and know what is expected of them. It will also put pressure on some others in the system such as Pitlick, Lander, Hamilton.
Khaira's a lock to play in the AHL. He played there at the end of the year and apparently did well. Yakimov, Simpson, Khaira and Moroz are all turning pro. Chase likely back to the Dub, Roy to the Q. It's going to be interesting to see how the four guys going to the AHL will do. All look so promising.

AH 1.03 PPG in CHL at 18 is not Elite production.
Unless it is a tout ZS situation like Khaira in WHL this year.
Hamilton and Pitlick seemed like stars. but as we started to get even numbers of rplayers the
NHLE on those three said no.

I have no idea what you are talking about here.

Yeah...my intent in posting that article was not to induce a false sense of certainty for these prospects. It was after all a semi informal scrimmage probably only a 1/2 step away from a game of shinny. Impossible to extrapolate any really meaningful information from that.

That said it is an intriguing story and it does highlight some areas of improvement for these players.

No need to crush the optimism completely. ;)

Khaira and Chase played 1 game together in Subway series.
Chase 2G and Khaira 2A plus players.
Hockey canada are morons.
Why do you think Nicholson stepped down.
The Ontario influence has messed up the Junior Canadian team.
Then Khaira shut down calder cup champ Texas stars 1st line with though ZS.

they ar not 20 and have 4 more summer of training before they are past core development.

i am hoping for 225LB for Khaira and Yakimov.

Not as mindbending as I thought, but still impressive considering he used the 'backhand' side of his stick blade.

EDIT: Yeah, like the Niederreiter goal. Pretty much a carbon copy without the glove throwing.

That instagram clip sucks, go to the oilers webpage and watch the full speed version

I believe he'll be in the AHL. Yakimov isn't quite ready for the NHL yet, but he looks like a gem ; if developed properly.

I think Yakimov for sure benefits from the AHL and probably does quite well there, after a bit of an adjustment period (like Klefbom, but quicker because of the lack of prior injury).

Khaira did OK in the CHL last year, but his one point in nine AHL games suggests that he probably could still learn a bit more about putting up points. We want a guy who can potentially be a 3rd liner, right? He needs more offense. He'd get a chance to really go for that as a 20 year old in juniors. I say give him another year before the AHL!

It's still early for alot of these guys but just nice to see prospects healthy and working hard and just overall seems like most of them are trending in the right direction. Finally, aside from Center, we have some decent quality depth and our young guys are really gonna have to push hard and be better then someone else to try and crack the lineup.

I don't think the Oilers will send Khaira back to the WHL as an overage player.

I think from here on out nurse is in full audition mode, he's going to break some one in exhibition.

He was dumping guys without even trying haha. Can't wait until he's hitting to hurt in the NHL in a year or two. Possibly driving Bennett's head into the boards on every dump in. (not wishing injury calgary lurkers, just border line broken necks with no calls ever)

I think our Center Depth is young but good. Yakimov and Khaira look like Blue chippers. There should be some major training camp battles in the near future at all positions.

Hamilton and Pitluck faced consistent injury that happered development. Hamilton was actually good in okc last year when healthy. Pitluck still has a shot

With Khaira/chase/yak2, they do fine if healthy.

Yakimov/Khaura will be good with options. Yak2 is a mammoth, he made LD look regular size.

Khaira sounds like a good 2 way prospect with untapped offense. It is reported he had brutal zone starts in WHL against top lines. And in the AHL he had 35% Def ZS. I want to see him playing in a better role

Either way the cavalry of big centers is incoming

I also have a feeling Simpson is going to open a lot of eyes this TC and his name will be brought up in discussion for NHL time sometime this year. NHL ready positioning and hockey IQ with only skating to work on

I'm sorry, but living in Calgary and constantly hearing about "Regehr deserving his cup" and missing his treatment of Hemsky, I really wouldn't mind if we had a player to feed some of their stars into the boards once and a while.
