He wasn't good tonight. When they needed big saves, he didn't make them. They can't afford to have him get outplayed by Jack Campbell.

The positives tonight were Pettersson's line looking dangerous most of the game. Kuzmenko looks like a seamless fit. Miller was good as well.

Pearson is dogshit and Boeser looked terrible as well.

He should have scored that goal though when Kuzmenko set him up. That was almost a perfect chance to score.

First game, but the Canucks come as advertised. They'll score a lot, but that blueline isn't anywhere nearly good enough. This was a game where they really missed Myers, particularly along the wall.

A tough night for Hughes. He was one the ice for a least 2-3 goals, and the PP went 1-8. I'm really starting to wonder about Hughes on the pp. Unfortunately he doesn't have a shot that would break a pane of glass. And teams are starting to cheat,.....they're packing of the goal and daring him to shoot.

And Boudreau needs to get Hughes off the PK. You don't risk your best d-man killing penalties. As it was he got hurt and had to miss part of the second period.

They need to get Rathbone back in there. At least the guy has a howitzer from the point. Can't understand why they sat him down for a guy like Stillman, who's the equivalent of a waiver wire pickup.

We gave up a 3 goal lead lol.

It's also the same sad shit we have seen for years now.

1) Look absolutely helpless defensivey and need goaltending to bail us out.

2) Powerplay gets contained to the perimeter and starts overpassing or throwing muffin shots.

3) PK plays a tight stationary box and gives up clear cross crease chances.

4) No physical pushback. Players are assaulted and mugged and this team has no one answering the challenge.

Obviously you can't just implode when things don't go your way but that missed Hughes call really hurts in retrospect.

Not only did it gift them a goal, they weren't penalized and Hughes was out of the game for a good portion of the 2nd.

great start and yet again they can't play a 60 min game.

the powerplay was awful.

they missed so many golden chances. hoglander, miller and horvat stand out the most. so many break aways and nothing to show for it

that said...it's game 1

Why can this team never keep up the pace for 60 mins? No matter how strong they start I always fear an imminent comeback.

God I hate Edmonton.

Long off season, lots of time to forget.

Kind of like when you eat KFC, have a horrible bathroom experience and don't eat it for a year... hmm maybe I'll get some KFC...
Tuesday special is a bargain...

unlike anything on our defense.

Also throw the OEL-Poolman pairing into the sun. Couldnt break the puck out for shit and had nothing in the offensive zone

Hughes-Schenn
OEL-Burroghs
Rathbone-Poolman

We lost. McDavid is good.

Kuzmenko looked like our best player out there, which is huge. He made some great passes, but he also did some good things in the neutral zone to keep the play moving forward. And he makes good plays along the boards. A huge steal by the Canucks.

Podkolzin kind of quietly did a lot of things out there. Looks like a 8 year vet in only his 2nd year. I will continue to predict that he will be right up there with Pettersson as far as impact on the team goes.

Miller has got to get it together if we want to come out of the gate strong. So many bad passes and give aways on the PP. Fanned on a great set up by Kuzmenko. You can't blame the loss on just one player, but if Miller is playing just good but not great, I think we come away with at least a point.

Overall I thought the Canucks showed enough that I think they can beat most teams. Can't panic after game 1.
