Need to trade Horvat for a defensemen if possible. I'd try and move Boeser probably too. I think two D would help this team more. Kuz and Podkolzin make it possible to do it.

I know the default is it overreact to one game, and they lost this one in a poor fashion, but you can see where the team can win on the balance of the roster. They’ve got more than one or two weapons.

Not concerned over this one.

Definitely have the balance in the top-9 to overpower some teams.

Our weakness will always be lapses of judgment, poor IQ and overall soft play defensively. Enough for a team with top-end firepower like the Oilers to feast.

Against teams that don't have as much elite talent, we'll be able to outscore our problems.

Clear that Pearson has lost a step. Schenn was brutal too.

Both couldn't handle 15 min+ at ES for long stretches last year and it looks worse. Hope we see a quick change in the lineup but im not expecting it.

Eh at second thought we were playing Edmonton. Hard to say if they lost a step when they match up with McDavid

Hot start and they did a good job drawing penalties, but I thought that was a really unimpressive night (well, last 40 minutes) tonight. Liked Kuzmenko. Stillman/Burroughs were fine. Miller & EP with a couple nice plays early then were invisible.

Other than that? Hard to be excited about what we saw tonight.

they pinned themselves into a corner by signing Miller, they are going for the playoffs and you need Horvat for that goal. We had to clean house and rebuild, move Miller, Horvat and Boeser but yet we we re-sign 2 of the 3, went shopping for yet another 2nd line winger and not fixing our major holes.

It still boggles my mind they decided we to keep Boeser and not upgrade the defense

Yeah I'd say put Kuzmenko in Miller's spot so Petey gets to handle the puck more and it gives us that right shot off the left boards.

Put Miller on the 2nd unit where they need a puck handler.

I can see why nobody bit on Miller. Management screwed up not taking deals last year. He tired as game went on, made multiple bonehead plays and looked slow.

Blowing a 3 goal lead in the first game can start to weigh in your head of how bad you really are.
